Hi All,

I'm new to the concept of Video on Mac's.

I am about to buy a new HD Camcorder (Sony HDRSR12) and prior to making the purchase I want to ensure it is compatible with the Software and Hardware I want to use.

I plan on using it for home movies (Wife is currently pregnant), I hope to be able to move the recordings from the Camcorder into iMovie to edit etc then display them on Apple TV all very simply.

I have compared the specs of the Camera, iMovie and ATV and it seems I have a problem. The Camera records in AVCHD which is supported in iMovie (I think) however ATV seems to not support this format.

Here is the camera Specs

http://www.sony.com.au/dis/catalog/...WSCFCCFEQK0IIUKIV0?id=HDRSR12&_requestid=1496

Here is the Webpage I found the Imovie support for AVCHD

http://www.apple.com/au/ilife/imovie/

Here is the Apple TV Specs

http://www.apple.com/au/appletv/specs.html

Seems strange iMovie would support yet ATV wouldn't, am I missing something ? if not and ATV will not play this format what will I need to do to get my Home Movies to Apple TV without loosing Picture quality ?

Thanks in advance

Dylan
