I find one of the biggest differences from Windows in day to day work is that the menu bar is not on the program running but always in the upper left. I have a 30" monitor and if I have a program running on the right side it is a looooong way to the menu bar. Is there a shortcut key (or can you make one, preferably a single F key?) to snap the pointer to the Menu?

ctrl-F2 is the shortcut for the Apple menu then just arrow across to the menus. theres also ctrl-F3 for the dock and ctrl-F8 for the menu bar.

This doesn't seem to work if you're using one of the new Apple keyboards (the ones with the brightness control on F1 and F2, audio controls F7-F12).

Read the post above yours...

I tried the Ctrl-fn-F (what is the fn key's primary function?) and noting happens. 😕 This is by far too many keys to press even if it will work. Is there any way to do a custom Hot key and assign this to F16 or F15?

Ah HA! Found it

Go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts

Under the Keyboard Navigation section, you'll see what you'd like!

Thanks that is very close to it. The only caveat is it doesn't actually put the pointer there and you must use the keyboard to navigate.

I've never heard of that ability. Are you familiar with the keyboard shortcuts for your applications, etc? In the end, your workflow should increase if you can quickly just use the keyboard for common tasks instead of jumping your mouse around.
