When can we expect to see new Imacs? I'll be buying in about a month.

Not anytime soon as they were just updated less than one month ago.

Well, I have to say that after upgrading my previous 2.8GHz iMac, I ended up returning my 3.06GHz today. Sad to see it go but the machine was noisier than my last one. Noticeably so.

The screen was as perfect as I was gonna get too, so I was extra sad to see it go.

I think what the thread starter may have meant is when are the Montevina iMacs being released? Maybe.

If this new chipset will mean that the iMac will run a lot cooler, then this may mean the fans won't be running as noisy. Unless of course it was just the fan on the 8800GS?

Anyway, I'm thinking of going to Manchester to get me a mac pro and 23" ACD. But I keep telling myself to wait until after WWDC

I thought I heard mine the other day when I was in bed, but it was just the rain outside.

Mid to late 2009 when the line transitions to Nehalem.

If you buy in a month, you will get the current version.

The newest iMac design will be around for at least another year (maybe more).

I would assume there's a slight chance of an upgrade to the true Montevina CPU once that's released in June but if that would affect your purchase decision, you're not going to enjoy your iMac for very long. Mind you, I'm in the same boat as you are but I'm only waiting for the back to school promotions. If they happen to do an update between now and then, that's a bonus for me.

As often as it will take so that anybody contemplating buying one will have a new release 3-7 days before they plan on purchasing :p
