Safari cancels downloads?

Hi im sure this is a quick fix.

im on my buddies macbook and i cant download anything!

nothing comes up in his download list, I just click the links and it shows the url up top then refreshes back to the main download page.

I dont believe he has any 3rd party software for his downloads

when i click the activity window it comes up as cancelled

?? please help
 
I've never seen this issue before but sometimes a server misconfiguration is to blame on the site you're trying to download from. If this is the case you can attempt to bypass it by Option-clicking the file - this tells Safari to download it to your downloads folder, even if a normal click would cause the file to be rendered in the browser window.
 
well this is the kicker

i cant download ANYTHING from ANY site!!!

im just trying to get firefox on here and i know its not broken links...

please help!
