Do you think people are paying to much for iPhones now? Also do you think when the next generation comes out, 3g people will pay ridiculous amounts of money for them...like similar to what happened when Xbox 360 came out and they were being purchased for 1000s over the price.

400(16GB) and 500(32GB)
i don't see why they won't keep the price points the same, with increased storage. just drop down the touch prices or replace the 8GB model with a 64GB model and keep the price points.

Are there chips out there to support upgrading the ipod touch to 64gb, is there room in the new iphone for 3 cards? i don't know. dropping the price on a touch means dropping the price on everything, apple is getting dangerously close to have their products hit the same price points, it already happened with the ipods. I'm sure apple has something crafty up their sleeve that will make everyone happy, and then something slightly better 8 months later thats even better, repeat cycle...

if it didnt come out for free on a $49 aud Cap, i would consider about.. $350(aud) for 8gb and $450 for 16, and if they release a 32 $599

Well, I've budgeted $400 for one (the cheaper one, don't need a lot of space myself)...and I'll also have to pay an ETF from my current provider :( I doubt they'll raise the price any, but if they do, I could pay a little more, but I wouldn't be able to get one at launch...
Of course, if that rumored $200 (with subsidy) pricetag from AT&T turns out true, I'm definitely jumping on that, as a new AT&T customer I'd get it.

400(16GB) and 500(32GB)
Seconded.
I expect the prices to remain the same, but with a bump in storage capacity (2x).
3G is a standard feature, like a display or a battery, and doesn't warrant a higher price.

400 dollars for the 16 gb, 3G would be one awesome deal. Also if it had GPS I would pay up to 600 for it. I use the locate me feature at least once a day. Also, turn by turn would be sweet.

do you guys think that there could be a possiblity that they could come with solar powered recharge ability? or is it still too early for that?
If so I'd pay extra for that.

Way, way too early. Wait a few years.
In answer to the original question - I'd pay the same as last year.

don't see them changing the price point...so $400. but if it has a camera in the front i would go as high as $500. im selling my current iphone for $400, so it wouldn't hurt that bad.

I really don't think the prices will change. I think they'll either be the same storage for the same price, or (what they usually do with iPods) more storage for the same price. But I don't think they're going to make the prices any higher.
...At least I sure hope not. I just sold my used 8GB iPhone for $375, and that's going to pay for MOST of the next iPhone.

Same. I'm going to be disappointed if they stay at the same price points without an increase in capacity!

I would expect the price points to stay right where they are... but what about the data plans?
How much would you pay for unlimited, 3G data? I bet the 3G plan is going to be $39, but not less than $29 seeing as the iPhone plan is currently $19.

I thought AT&T capped "unlimited" at 5GB?

I really can't go above $500
I just can't do that again unless I get money for my original iPhone
I got a budget I can NOT go over and I stayed in some weeks to get this iPhone
Budget baby! My welcome to the real world of life post-college and work:D

I am going to pay for what the retail price is. Questions like this are stupid because even if you would pay $200, the phone will still be what apple puts it as.

Preparing to pay $199 for an iPhone 3G from AT&T. If the subsidy turns out to be a hoax, I will seriously have to consider a free Tilt vs. a $400 - $500 iPhone. Hopefully we all find out on the 9th.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay more than 500 for the 3G, I heard the new AT&T customers have 200 off? what about the existing customers?

iAm happy to get a 16gb for the same price as the 32gb iPt -thats the rule for iPhones now eg 8gb iPhone=16gb iPt
same rule worldwide??
but i did sell my iPhone for A$702 (us$650) so i might get greedy and go the 32gb (if there is one-REMEMBER ITS A PHONE PEOPLE)

I have been on a sprint family plan for a little too long and I am ready to jump off and into a two year love affair with at&t. my area is covered in 3g and I have $800 in the iphone piggy bank, selling the 16gig IPT to give me a few free months of service.
This will be my first phone contract. if I figure $499 worst case price (no subsidy) + starting up a 2 year contract.
Anyone know what a current iphone costs to startup? I am just trying to get a ballapark on how much cash I will need to take to the AT&T store.

I probably would pay NO MORE THAN $499 for a 32GB iPhone. But remember, Apple intentionally released the iPhone $100 more than what they wanted when it first came out last June. So let's wait and see what they do this time, with the 32GB (assuming The Stevonator would release it.)

Everything over here is WAY over-priced, so I expect to pay through the nose for the iPhone. That said, my ceiling is $1000 (for a 32GB model) ...

$100 more than they WANTED? What does that even mean?
They priced the iPhone 6 months before it came out. I'm sure the market research they did in those months, and following the early sales, let them know that they could charge less, sell more phones, and come out on top.
Here's an imaginary scenario: following an extremely successful launch, they got a bigger share of per-month-revenue from AT&T (as part of an earlier agreement) and decided they could afford to lower the price and make more on AT&T profit sharing.
I think they actually expected that consumers would be thrilled at the new, lower price. But, that was a bit of bad psychology there - consumers don't think they pay what they want. They think they're somehow being swindled into buying things they want with their own money. Damn those companies with awesome products! :)

I would be surprised if you come close to that even in Japan
My ceiling is $650
I say that because I could technically do $600 but can NOT go over $700 even if I wanted to so in between is ok :(
