Let's hope that this finally fixes all the AFP/OD problems that everyone has been experiencing. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

EDIT:

- directory service reliability and authenticating new File Sharing connections
- binding and authentication in Active Directory environments
- editing Wiki content in Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer
- searching with Spotlight in the Finder and on the web
- sending 'Welcome' email messages to users in Server Preferences
- importing users and working with nested groups in Server Preferences
- hosting DHCP services
- supporting private events in iCal
- synchronizing Portable Home Directories
- enabling Software Update Server
- hosting mail services for users with long user names
- preventing mail server database corruption
- propagating password changes to Open Directory replicas
- creating and editing DNS records in Server Admin
- creating augment directory records in Advanced server configuration
- using Managed Preferences when clients are bound to Active Directory

Sounds promising to say the least....

BE CAREFUL with update

10.5.3 killed slapd (openldap) server, it was dying with:

May 29 22:22:46 anima slapd[982]: main: TLS init def ctx failed: -1
May 29 22:22:46 anima slapd[982]: slapd stopped.
May 29 22:22:46 anima slapd[982]: connections_destroy: nothing to destroy.
May 29 22:23:13 anima slapd[1004]: @(#) $OpenLDAP: slapd 2.3.27 (Apr 17 2008 00:59:09) $

Apparently this is caused by some issues with TLS, it was working before update though. As an emergency I had to manually

[anima:~] root# vi '/etc/openldap/slapd.d/cn=config.ldif'

and comment out all *TLS* entries

Will look later at exact reasons for this misbehavior.

Did it fix OD/AFP, or are you making a more general comment? This has been a giant PITA for our XServe (Jan 2008, so Leopard was the only option).

Also, anyone running BRU, SoftRAID, and/or DataBackup care to comment on if 10.5.3 did anything horrific?

Sorry, I meant the AFP bug seems to be fixed. I've tried it on a test server and it seems ok. I'll install it on a production server tonight.

That's good news.

I have it running on two test servers; one being DNS and OD Master, other Replica, both hosting Mobile Home-directories via AFP.
Both seem to be working fine.

Oh that's great news - we've got a NAS and it has been interesting to say the least coping with this problem. I was telling Yellow on the other thread that I don't have a lot of wiggle room for testbed equipment at our nonprofit, so I'm not pulling the trigger with 10.5.3 on our XServe until I hear some reports back on MR, from Apple and some of our software vendors that things are going OK.

Hi,

Need some help with setting up OD master and Replica in combination with mobile sync via AFP.

I have both OD Master and OD Replica up and running. Account are being synced. The Mobile homes are on a Raid unit connected via FC to the ODM.

You say you have it working on both ODM and ODR... How did you connect the homes to both machines?

Thanks is advance
