I have ffmpegx, but 20-30 min to convert around 5 min of video is pretty long.

Any suggestions?

either isquint (free), or pony up for visual hub ($30)

for basic stuff isquint does the job.

the absolute best converter ive used is called ipodME (google it) its free, soooo simple, and best of all it was made by a user on ipodtouchfans dot com so he took into account what members such as myself wanted:apple:

Yeah, that looks cool, but I have a non-intel Mac, so it won't work.

If I put Linux on my touch will I be able to play .avi's on it? Converting videos is just annoying. I'm converting a 20 min video and it's gonna take 90 min. Ugghh.

Or is there any way to make it so that I don't have to convert all my videos?

what kind of computer do you have? On my MBP it doesn't take nearly that long.... I'm not sure about linux on your touch and I also don't understand you last question, what format are the files in right now?

Use Handbrake! (http://handbrake.fr/?article=download) - It's Phenomenal.

I have a 1.67 ghz Powerbook G4 I'm using right now. I have a dual 2.0 ghz G5, but I'm on vacation now, so I only have my powerbook with me.

As to the video format now, they're mostly divx avi's, but a couple are h.264 avi's.
