They mentioned a Java version for OS X. I've never heard of that before.

Have a look at trinitiy.neooffice.org (http://trinity.neooffice.org.). There you'll find the latest info on the three ports to Mac (X11, Aqua, Java)

Thanks for clearing up my error with regard to Oregon State vs. U Oregon. Not having had the pleasure of ever visiting the area, what do I know about it?

It turns out that Oregon State has an open source advocacy group on campus, and they're pushing open source and OpenOffice. I'd love to see similar organizations at other schools around the country!

Also note, I recently learned that MIT has a very healthy presence of, and support for, StarOffice in its labs and on its desktops.
