Just bought me a new MBP and it has 2x 1gb sticks. And it seems like it's the same as the regular MB sticks. Was wondering if I could install the 2x 1gb sticks on my MBP and just upgrade the MBP memory to 2x 2gb sticks... ? I searched around but no clear answer.

Well if you ever need warranty repairs, you will need the original RAM, so don't go selling off that 2x512MB.

Not really, it's just recommended that he has Apple RAM if it needs to be sent in for repairs, as Apple won't touch anything but their RAM, so for all they know, he could have bought an upgrade kit from Apple.
