External drive with itunes and atv

So im saving my music and movie rips directly on to a 1tb western digital drive.... im running out of space... does anybody know if the can be piggybacked.... meaning will one drive overflow into another? Thanks

As long as you "reference" your media content you should be fine.

Means that the content (video, songs, etc.) is not copied into the iTunes folder, but rather remains on the external drive you have it on.
