Hi. The CD/DVD drive in my iBook G4 is dead. This was confirmed at the Mac store, where they said it would cost $250 to replace.

I'd rather do it myself.

1) How do I find out what kind of drive is in there?
2) How do I get a new one?
3) How do I replace the dead one with the new one?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Opening up iBooks is no fun task XD. Good luck man! It's a learning experience on how things are assembled.
