I'm trying to get an accurate identification of the iBook white G/3 700 MHz with 12in display we just acquired. There seems to be a couple of very similar models. The Apple Support article is unclear (<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88039>) as to which one we have. One model is an early 2002 release (M8602LL/A), the other a late 2002 release (M8860LL/A). Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your time.

The first one (M8602LL/A) is a translucent white 700MHz (iBook (16 VRAM)) and the (M8860LL/A) is a white 700MHz (Opaque (16 VRAM)).

They should be differentiated by the graphics chipset because I think they were different. Check System Profiler for:

(M8602LL/A) = ATI Mobility Radeon or ATI,RageM6
(M8860LL/A) = ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 or ATI,RageM7

If that doesn't work out for you, PM me your serial # on twitter and I'll look it up on GSX or Apple Service Source.
