I just installed the latest security update on my MacBook - Tiger.

Hit restart and I got a white (or close to white) screen for 10 minutes.

So I tried turning it off and back on - no luck,

The noise would seem to indicate the hard drive is running.

Any suggestions?

Update

I started up successfully in Safe Mode

then I hit re-start - now I can't start up at all - even in safe mode - just a blank screen. No Apple logo, no spinning wheel

Thanks

Ok I found out why I wasn't having luck booting up - I was following Apple's instructions to wait for the chime before pressing the key. Tried the key and the power button at the same time and no problem.

I repaired permissions and that seems to have solved the problem.
