How Do I Make 4 Partitions?

Ok I got a external hard drive and need 4 partitions. How do I do this?

Part 1: Time Machine
Part 2: Windows XP
Part 3: Ubuntu 8.04
Part 4: Docs and Media (Cross-Platform)

So basically I know 2 3 and 4 can use NTFS/ MS DOS, but part 1 needs Mac OS. Is it even possible to have that many formats on one drive?
 
yes, but you will need to format the drive. in Disk Utility create 4 partitions, the first formatted to Mac OS Extended and the next 3 formatted to FAT. then within Windows you can format partitions 2-4 as either NTFS or FAT.

plus im pretty sure you cant install windows XP on an external drive and then boot it with a Mac.

I think your right. No XP on an external drive.
 
Make sure you format partition number 4 as FAT32, as this is the only type fully supported from OS X that other OSes can read too. You can technically get NTFS support in OS X with FUSE, but it's slow.
 
^ yup! you need to move the virtual machine file to your external and then point Parallels to the external in the preferences. i cant remember exactly where the virtual mahine file is. somewhere in the appliation support folder.
