Just FYI, seems like 10.5.3 may have introduced some problems with how the system handles photos.

Some users of the image-browser PhotoMechanic have reported a significant slowdown when browsing folders of images particularly when viewed direct from the camera card. See this thread here:

http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=3077

More worryingly German server software company Helios has reported it has been able to reproduce an error whereby “Images saved from Photoshop CS3 can get corrupted visually (stripes or similar in the image) or even structurally so that they cannot be opened again in Photoshop or another application” when using AFP based servers. More info here:

http://www.helios.de/support/ti.phtml?116

I've no idea on either, but anyone who hasn't upgraded yet may want to hold off, at least until the situation is more clear.

Thanks for the notice. I was just ready to download/install it :) I will wait instead, because 10.5.2 is working flawlessly on my PPC G5

I've just got done processing a little over 100 images in both Nikon Capture NX2 and Photoshop CS3, using 10.5.3, without any issues whatsoever. 10.5.3 is working flawlessly on my Mac Pro.

The corrupted-images issue has been semi-officially confirmed by Adobe - see here:

http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/06/filesaving_issu.html

Apparently Apple is working on a fix. The corruption occurs when saving images from Photoshop directly to a networked drive.

Advice therefore is until this is fixed, do not save directly from Photoshop to network drives - save it locally then transfer the file.
