Smart Folder Use

All,

Have had a good search and cannot seem to work this one out.

I have a "Recent" smart folder which works perfectly in Finder, providing documents from the last few days.

However, whilst I can see this folder in the sidebar when attaching files in Google Mail or looking to open files in Word selecting it just show an empty file list.

Does this technique simply not work outside of Finder or am I missing something?
