Apple has officially launched (http://www.apple.com/backtoschool/) the Back to School promo for 2008. If you’re a student, faculty, or staff member and you buy a Mac before September 15, you can get a free iPod touch or iPod nano. After all, isn’t college about seizing every opportunity?
Official list of Terms and Conditions (PDF) (http://images.apple.com/promo/pdf/BTS08_TCS.pdf) have been posted. The promotion runs from June 3rd to September 15th and provides a rebate of up to $299 for qualifying individuals who buy a Mac and an iPod Touch or iPod Nano.

Although they only list the MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac on the promo page, the terms and conditions specify that "All new Macintosh computers and the Configure-to-order versions of these products are eligible, except for Mac mini and 17” iMac".

Customers may purchase up an 8GB iPod Nano to receive a $199 rebate, or may purchase an 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB iPod Touch to receive up to a $299 rebate.

This is the most aggressive Back to School promotion that Apple has offered and should dramatically increase the installed base of iPod Touch users over the next few months.

17" iMac? Some one needs to proof read and update verbiage from previous years. Or, let me say it, is there a new miniature iMac coming?:D

I'll be waiting as long as possible for this promotion. I don't consider the current Penryn MacBooks to be much of an improvement over mine.

It looks like the redemption center is in Utah this year.

I wondering if the $299 can be applied to an iPhone?

I doubt it......

Customers may purchase up an 8GB iPod Nano to receive a $199 rebate, or may purchase an 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB iPod Touch to receive up to a $299 rebate.

I just bought a MBP w/student discount a couple weeks ago.

Heh, looks like old boiler-plate that they forgot to update.

Apple does still make 17" iMacs for education at an affordable price for schools:

http://www.apple.com/education/solutions/imac/

Therefore, the rebate cannot be applied on them. ;)

Um, not everyone has AT&T. Believe it or not, millions of people still use Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and countless other small carriers. A free touch is a damn good deal ;)

No, the only way of getting around the mail in rebate is to be a resident of Connecticut or Rhode Island where it is an instant-rebate at the point of sale. They just reduce the price of the iPod to a penny and so there is no UPC to cut out or form to fill in correctly. Post it on craigslist and you could probably sell it that very day ;)

Not only in the US, Canada, too (http://www.apple.com/ca/backtoschool/).

This is an extra little bit of encouragement for me to go for a certain part-time distance-ed teaching gig. Because even part-timers are faculty (at least in Canada, your local mileage may vary).

Except there are already twice as many iPods in my family as there are people.

I'd have thought a deal with AT&T to have AT&T fork over the extra hundred bucks to make that buy a Mac and get a free iPhone would have been a coupe de grace in the smartphone wars. As obvious a deal that would have been in the current market, I guess this is an indicator that Apple's very comfortable with iPhone sales and the sales estimates for the imminent release of the new iPhone.

The promos usually are also available in Germany. However, the one in 2007 did not start until August and lasted into October, I think. So, you have to wait a bit, but might be lucky that it includes recently refreshed Apple products that the US promo will not cover...

Last year in the UK the back to school promotion I think was approx £80 rebate with a new Mac purchase.

p.s. if you're a student in the UK you can get Microsoft Office 2008 (full version) for £35
from

or from

Acctually, Apple has changed their rebate system and it is super easy. I bought a new iMac/Printer on May 23rd (ugh i would have waited if i had known!), filled out the online form on the 24th and got my $100 printer rebate in the mail on June 2nd. All you have to do is fill out a short form with the date, store you purchased, receipt number, and the purchase total then name and address where you want the check sent. Seriously, it was so easy.

Have a sale to move all the old crap out. Also, Penryn cpus are still used with Montevina, as Montevina is just the platform/chipset.

And be serious, do you think that the majority of students who buy MacBooks to get their free iPod are going to know or care that Apple released new hardware/

For those that are asking if you can still get in on the deal if you have already ordered/bought a qualifying mac, you have to have purchased it after May 20th to be able to get the ipod for free or discounted. Basically, if you bought it within the 14day period where you can return it, you can go in with your receipt (call them) and do a return/purchase so you can get the ipod on the same receipt thus qualifying you for the rebate.

As others have said, the UK ones is always later for some reason, usually around late July or August I think as back to school doesn't really get going here until then.

I used it a couple of years ago to get a free nano with my iMac, I knew the promotion would be coming up but they wouldn't say when so I phoned them and put my order on hold. They sent it anyway so when I phoned them they gave me the nano for free anyway even though the promotion hadn't started, you could try that if you're really desperate.

Personally I would wait as something in the range is bound to be updated before September, might as well get it the last day.

To avoid a restocking fee, do not open the box when you get it. Arrange for a return, then once it's complete, repurchase.

If you ordered from Apple, assuming it wasn't a config to order, you can return it to an Apple retail store and they'll return and resell on the spot with the iPod.

Not saying it's not a good deal because it is, but likely we will see new iPods soon.

I remember one year new iPods came out while the Back to School promotion was still on, you were unable to get the new iPods for free, instead you had to order an old one.

Still a great deal to get $299 off a iPod Touch, but if you want the latest and greatest, get the Touch free, sell it quickly and then buy the new model when it comes out!

This is because not everyone wants a touch. Yes is is worth more so if you are going to sell it, the touch is the obvious choice. But if you want an iPod to take to the gym, or go one a run with, I'd much rather have the nano. Also, Apple is probably trying to change the face of the iPod from that silver and black block, to a slim and sleek touch surface. This is just one way of getting these out there.

I mean, suppose apple suddenly decided to replace the penryn with the montevina in July, DURING the BTS promotion, how mad/angry would students be? It would almost be like apple is using students as tools to offload old stock so that they can prepare to launch the new models!!!!
I may be wrong, but I would really hate apple for doing that!!!!!!!!

It's not like the MB's they buy over the next few months are going to cease working when the new ones come out. These are great machines with a great promo. Think about how much Apple privi's students. Discount hardware, applecare, promos, etc. It would take a lot more to upset the students.

there has been some discussion about what would happen if/when apple releases hardware updates during the promo. this happened last year (iMac updated in late august). i bought the new iMac and still qualified for the BTS iPod. the fine print lists specific iPod model numbers, not mac model numbers. any new mac will qualify (aside from mini & 17" iMac) so anything released between now and the end of the BTS promo will also qualify.
"as supplies last" more likely refers to iPod 8GB nano or touch supplies.

Yes but apple knows that the most popular choice will be to take the free 8GB Touch. A lot of people may have ipods already or just want an iphone - they're not going to spend more than nothing unless they really really want something bigger.

I'd imagine that post-WWDC, the new baseline Touch will be 16GB (and iPhone too probably) and then at some point between next week and september the Touch will get new hardware/redesign.

At some point this year they'll have to clear out the whole line of iPods and this promotion is partly how they do it. It's what happened last year anyway.

If you do it online, they ask you for your university's name and your uni ID (that's how it is in Canada). In store, they'll ask to see your uni ID card.

I have a question about multiple promotions. How would you be able to get the free iPod Touch and a free printer because both rebate forms require you to send in your Mac UPC label and receipt. OK, with your receipt, you can make a copy or ask for two copies from the store but what about the Mac UPC label?

If you go to the promotion page on apple's website, right underneath the iPod Promo, it shows the printer promo and says "Get a free printer too" so i assume you can get both. I will probably, go with the iPod Nano and give it to my father or something since i already have an ipod. Definitely getting the free printer though, i could use a new one.

you get specific instructions on which rebate to send the UPC with. basically you send it in with one (the iPod i believe) and then write down that rebate number on the other rebate. something like that. it comes with clear instructions and you are def eligible for both the iPod and printer rebates.

They (Apple) had the same issue last year with the printer and ipod promo going. They allowed you to submit a copy of the computer UPC for the iPod promo if you noted that the original was submitted for the printer program. I had heard they internally verified the printer rebate was valide before processing the iPod rebate, but I don't know that for certain.

Most stores ask for some form of proof you are a student, but they've been very flexible in what type of proof. We would let you log into your university email as proof.

You can get the discounted Mac + a free printer ($100 worth) and a free iPod ($199 or $299 worth) they have two separate rebates for all of it and its insanely easy and probably one of the nicest promotions I've seen.

& I think all the new rebates are processed online now so its that much more simple.

Copies of the UPC could be sent to the ipod rebate and there is a space to note that the original went to the "printer" rebate. At least on the Canadian form.

Agreed, clear them out then make the new ipods able to get online ala 3G like the new iphone, presently, the touch is a bit misleading, you can only get online with wi fi, I think this issue will be resolved. You heard it here first (grin)

If you intend to sell the iPod Touch a word-to-the-wise; wait until 2.0 has been released. The iPod Touch owners will be charged a nominal fee to upgrade to 2.0 ($20).

If you don't NEED a new computer wait closer to September when buying guides suggest SOMETHING will have been upgraded.

How do they know if your a college student? Do they ask for a an ID number or something during online checkout or what? Cant you just say you go to NYU or something and buy with the discount even though its not allowed? :D

You need a college id, even old one will work. I took some classes after going after my EE at a local college (music) and some editing in the future, the card works for apple as well as movies (20%), so worth while to take a class or two, besides, it would be good for you. Take a photography, music or editing class ((grin)). Or find one online, about the same price, less books.

True story, have a friend, bar tender, he bought a PC/Vegas and good graphics card, edited his wedding, .... After being married a month or two his credit improved, he applied online for Apple Credit and got a dual G5, (I remember how impressed I was with the templates of imovie 06 and FCP) (thus I hope it never comes out for PC, (haha), anyway, he starts to shoot more weddings, gets a lot of gigs, rents nice camera's, then has enough to buy one, moves home to Kansas (from Pasadena CA), has two children, buys a house, becomes the chief editor for a firm, and next time I see him, he has a macbook pro and MAYA and is really good at editing.

All because he bought a mac and learned iMovie/FCP....I'm telling you, as a composer, I too am learning FCP very deep and MAYA, this will be the future, editors, unlike composers, are needed all the time.....and it pays well. Then when you become successful as an editor, you will probably have no problems adding your music down the road (if you're a composer, sound designer),

:-)

Just my .03 cents on why taking a class is always a good thing plus of course the discount. If you know someone at apple, you have them buy the END OF LIFE PRODUCT for you. e.g. When new MBP 2.4 ($1999) came out, the $2499 MBP GLOSSY became END OF LIFE and was able to get for $1000 off - - if I sell it (which I will when new MBP's come out), I will get my money back easy.

TAKE A CLASS! LOL

Most of the time they don't even ask for that exact reason. It's on the honor system. But sometimes they'll want proof of paid tuition or a copy of your student ID. Obviously there will be a certain amount of leeway if you haven't begun yet as they're certainly not going to exclude high school graduates about to start college. It all just depends on the individual case. They don't force everyone to prove it. But the risk of having to prove it is usually enough to make sure everyone doesn't rush online and pretend to be a student.

Yes and no. No because you are past the 14 days of return.

However, if you go to the APPLE STORE on a regular basis, find what they call the "LEAD" specialist, this person although not a manager, has the power to override, tell them that (fill in a name from another specialist or a friend from work) said if they talked to you that you (meaning them) might be able to return this as non opened box, and resell it to you with the ipod, all you would need is the receipt. Really, they do have the power, it all depends on how chummy you are with them and if you can sweet talk them. They can do about anything they want and so can a manager.

I wonder if this means a 64 GB iPod touch won't happen before September 15?

The wife and I have been kicking around the idea of getting a second Macbook for her classes, and $300 off an iPod touch really sweetens the deal since I've had my eye on one for a while. However, I really want to hold out for a 64 GB since my music collection is already a bit over 30 GB, and I'd like room to grow, plus extra apps, movies, etc.

We could wait and see if they introduce a 64 GB over the summer, but my guess is it'll be sometime after this promo is over.

Agreed, it's been said every year. This promotion is to move old stock. If new ones do come out, most won't bother with returning and paying a restocking fee. The commoner will love their new iPod and new MB (or w/e mac they chose), they won't even know that a new chip came out. Upgraded specs? They won't notice. Only we notice the .16 GHz jump. OMGZz. They see Macbook, and say, yea I have that one without knowing there's been 4 revisions. Well you get the idea.

Now I got to make a decision to upgrade and get a free iPod or not. I'll wait till WWDC first.

As it has been mentioned earlier in this thread, the promotion does not specify the model of Mac you purchase (with the exception of discluding the Mac Mini and 17" edu iMac).

It only specifies the iPod models which are limited to the 8 GB Nano, or a $299 US credit towards an iPod Touch 8GB, 16GB or 30GB.

I'm still going to wait until WWDC. With the rumors of the $199 iPhone, I think Apple would logically drop the price on the iPod touches at the same time (wouldn't it be wierd to have iPhones selling for less than iPod touches?!).

If the price on iPod Touches drops, you could likely get a 16GB for "free", as opposed to the 8GB targeted by the promotion currently.

Probably mentioned before, but technically (and no I'm not whining, since I plan to buy in about a week or so) we have to pay the tax that a 300$ iPod Touch would add, correct? A rebate would only cover the initial cost prior to taxes, since we still have to "buy" the touch along with the mac.

Correct. They really want you to get the Touch.

And if you already have a Touch or an iPhone, well, here: how about a Nano?

This is the main issue:

IF only 16gb & 32gb (no more 8gb) iPhones are rolled out at WWDC @ $399 and $499 ea., how does this affect the iPod Touch line, 8gb, 16gb, 32gb?

The iPod Touch 16gb would become the same price as the iPhone 16gb (or greater if considering the AT&T subsidy rumor).

If the new iPhone, with it's physical features updated and depth reduced 22%, .46 to .36 inches, and the iPod Touch currently at .31 in, the feature set and size of the iPod Touch's comparative value is further reduced.

This leads me to speculate the iPod Touch will be updated in some fashion at WWDC. A price cut is in order across the board, because there is no way they would introduce a 16gb iPhone for the same price or less as a 16gb iPod Touch.

Second point:

The iPhone was introduced July 2007.

The iPod Touch was introduced September 2007.

Both have been updated simultaneously since their introduction, keeping an even cost/benefit ratio:

Since November 2007:

8gb iPod Touch $299
8gb iPhone, 16gb iPod Touch $399
16gb iPhone, 32gb iPod Touch $499

Proposed changes:

8gb iPod Touch $299
16gb iPod Touch $399, 16gb 3G Slimmer iPhone $399 less subsidy
32gb iPod Touch $499, 32gb 3G Slimmer iPhone $499 less subsidy

These prices do not make business sense.

Here is what is likely to happen:

Scenario One:

8gb iPod Touch phase out.
16gb iPod Touch down to $299.
32gb iPod Touch down to $399.
Education deal changes in some way (either free 16gb or free 8gb while supplies last).

Scenario 2a:
8gb, 16gb, 32gb 3G iPhone introduced and pricing scheme remains the same until September.

Scenario 2b (most logical):
3G iPhone 16gb @ $499 less a subsidy, 32gb @ 599 less a subsidy. Previous generation iPhones discounted and phased out. Effectively the same pricing scheme until September when new/updated iPod models are introduced. This is in line with the previous generation iPhone's (overpriced) introduction.

Scenario Three (most likely):
16gb & 32gb iPhone introduced and iPod Touch pricing remains the same. Apple uses the Education discount deal to phase out the 8gb iPod Touches until a September update.

What other scenarios can you think of, and what are the implications to the Education deal?

No it would not necessarily be weird. The iPod Touch DOES NOT come with a 2-year contract to continue doing business, where the iPhone does. The only reason the iPhone could drop to the $200 level is because of AT&Ts willingness to subsidize the phone (like they've done with other brands), in order to get more people to sign long-term contracts for their phone service. The lower priced phones have nothing to do with Apple and everything to do with AT&T.

If you bought at a store, take it back and talk to the manager. He may be willing to work with you. I believe one poster indicated that you can even ask the store manager to accept it as a return, then sell it right back to you under the new promotion so you can have the same computer. Not sure if they'd be willing to do that or not, but never hurts to try. If you bought at Apple.com, then no, there is no chance if it was over 14 days.

I just called in to the local Apple Store to ask about the return/rebuy thing for recently purchase computers and the guy told me that I just needed to have purchased the computer within the last 25 days. Not sure why he told me 25 rather than 14. He also said I just needed to bring in the empty box and my receipt to do the transaction and that I would not be charged a restocking fee.

I would love to be able to wait for WWDC to see if there is a price adjustment on the touch line, but the time frame from when I purchased my MBP is sort of forcing my hand so I will be heading to the store tonight.

Yes, just had to bring in the box and receipt. I must add though that today was day 14 for me so I was still in that time frame, but in person, the guy did mention that they would do it for purchases within 30 days so take that for what it's worth. I wonder if 30 days is the limit for unopened box returns? I figured he just did the transaction as an unopened return and rebuy along with the touch. It's probably worth a visit or phone call if you're at least within that 30 day time frame; can't hurt. All in all it's gonna cost me roughly $140 for a 16 gb ipod touch and I couldn't be happier.:)

If I order on September 15 and Apple schedules an event anywhere from September 16-29 to introduce new MacBooks, would I still be eligible for the free iPod as well as be able to trade in the old model MacBook for the new model? If that's the case, I'm waiting until September 15 to order! (Unless of course new MacBooks are introduced before then!)

I'm in the market for a new laptop, but am in no hurry. I'd like the new model of MacBook, but the free iPod is more important to me...

I actually registered just for this, because a lot of people were mentioning it.

As far as I could recall, Apple's education discount also applies to k-12 students. But when I actually went to look it up, it appears that it doesn't. My perspective was probably skewed because a) both my parents teach and are therefore eligible, and b) I started taking community college classes like 7 years ago (when I was still in high school).

This is the exact wording stated in the terms in conditions for this deal:
"EDUCATION INDIVIDUAL PURCHASE QUALIFICATIONS: Faculty and staff of higher education institutions and students attending or accepted into a higher education institution are eligible. Any employee of a public or private K–12 institution or Qualified Homeschoolers in the United States or District of Columbia are eligible.
School board members who are currently serving as elected or appointed members are eligible. PTA or PTO executives currently serving as elected or appointed officers are eligible. "

Additionally, the apple store for education site has these options:
To buy for yourself, first choose your category.

* College or university student
* College or university faculty, administration, or staff member
* K-12 teacher or staff member
* Find out about homeschool pricing

So in neither case are k-12 students mentioned, just faculty. But it's worth asking an employee at the local apple store about anyway. Also there is a slim chance you can buy a computer through your school.

And as for combining this with other rebates, aside from the fact that they are displaying the promo next to other rebate offers on the site (if anyone wants Adobe CS3, they also do a HOT summer deal on it), if they DIDN'T want you to combine rebates they would probably post something like "Cannot be combined with any other offer, rebate, or promotion."

As for this offer in general... I gave it a negative because, while it's a great deal, I was counting on this offer applying to the classic. My dad is actually getting the iPod, and I'm getting the computer. He has an unlocked iPhone (to use in Mexico), so an iTouch would be pretty redundant. When I told him the details of the deal, he semi-decided to get a 32gb iTouch, but hasn't decided if he wants to keep it or craigslist/ebay it and get an 80gb classic instead.
If there was a 64gb iTouch we would both be more interested... I currently have about 63gb of mp3s, and he is a musician/music teacher with a big cd/vinyl collection that he needs to transfer to mp3, and 32gb just sounds suspiciously like potentially not enough room.
I'm also curious to see when they update the macbook pros. I get angry every time I look at the meager differences in specs from the middle MB versus low-end MBP and think about the $700 price difference.

So, I'm anxiously awaiting next week's announcements. Hoping and praying for new MBPs sooner rather than later.

The iPod must be purchased at the same time as the computer, then a check gets mailed to you later for $299 (or $199 if you chose the Nano). Unfortunately there's no automatic discounts on the system if you don't want the iPod. If you really don't want the iPod, you could just sell it.

Here's my question though...

I bought a MB back in late January, and my aging PC is due to be relegated to "kid's machine" duty soon. My wife has talked about getting another laptop, and I figured it would be a good time for me to upgrade to a MBP and give her the MB. Either that, or I might decide on an iMac.

My question is this:

According to the Apple website,

PURCHASE QUANTITY
Faculty, Staff and Students purchasing from the Apple Store for Education Individuals will be allowed to purchase the following quantities of product per academic school year:

Desktop: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
Notebook: One (1) may be purchased per academic year

Does this mean I can purchase my new MBP or iMac in late August seeing as it is the beginning of a new academic year for my school, or does Apple do the Jan-December thing?

I'm a dutch student and have booked a trip to Vegas in July. Do you think it is possible to benefit from the back to school promo while i'm there? It is not stated in the terms and conditions, that you have to be a U.S. citizen or have to be enrolled in a school or university in the U.S.
But i wonder if you must fill out on the rebate-form, which school or university you're from. Can anyone who filled out this form, answer this question? I noted, that you do need to fill out an address in the U.S. That will be no problem, because we're going to visit my boyfriends uncle.

If Apple says per academic year, then you're free to interpret that to mean whatever type of calendar your institution is on is fine.

If you're on the quarter system, then that's typically September to June.
If you're on the semester system, then that's typically August to May.

However, many other types of schedules exist. The term "academic year" is not defined by Apple - you must define it with your own circumstances.

I wasn't planning on getting a new Mac before college this year, well, I was planning on it, but my budget situation doesn't agree. I have a nice little PowerBook, and would like to go to the MacBook Pro, but again, cash flow, and I really don't want to settle for a MacBook, rather wait. However, with this, I might go for it. I have an iPhone, so I really don't need the Touch, so I could sell it, as I have a few friends that might buy it. Humm, decisions. Do I really need 512 Video memory anyways? I was planning on going with the second tier 15 inch model, but I can't seem to see much of a difference between the two that makes it worth spending that much more.

im not sure why some of the recent buyers didnt wait till wwdc just in case there are updates since its not that far off now. maybe not everyone is as careful/patient as me. more power to you i spose

Like I said in my post above, if updates are at WWDC then its just a matter of taking comp to local Apple store and getting it upgraded (under 14 day). This way if no updates come (none are seriously rumoured for MBP) then I will have my comp sooner ;)

Bought an iMac on May 24th, we took the receipt in today and they returned and gave us the touch. :-)

Bought a MBP on May 17th. Went to store with receipt in hand. Walked out 5 minutes later with a touch. Now I just need to decide what to do with it (Keep or sell). I wish I could have gotten a classic instead.

I submitted the rebate online and it said nothing about sending in the UPC. Are we for sure not going to need them later.

Most just didn't know either that WWDC was about to go on OR that Apple does this back-to-school special

I had to tell 2 family members and friends about both events so they would wait as they were all about to buy Apple computers right before WWDC

Unless you are on here or another Mac forum, it isn't that easy to find out to be honest

Also, I purchased a new MacBook Pro and I will still be in my 14 day window if they happen to do an update, but I just can't see them updating the MacBook Pro right now.

All rebates are now submitted online through www.apple.com/promo .

You only need to fill in identifying information, your receipt number, "RXXX.......", and the total price of everything on your receipt in dollars and cents.

You get instant confirmation that your check in $XXX.XX will be on its way in 3 to 5 business days, and you'll get a receipt to print.

You no longer need to send in any receipt, UPC's, or play the paper chase.

FYI,

once again this only seems to hold true for the US and not Canada. Canadians have to submit UPC labels and mail-in the rebate :(
US vs Canadian Apple Stores online say different things...
US - submit online
Canadian - mail-in
I also purchased through a Canadian Apple Store and was told to mail-in the UPC labels, etc.

You just named the source: the fact that this promotion ends on the 15th. Given that information, it is reasonable to speculate that no new iPods will be released until at least September 16, after the promotion.

Does anyone have any idea about why we may want to wait? Should college students wait for the new iPod touches? Is technology at a point that Apple can produce 60 or 80 gig iPod touch models and sell them at reasonable prices? With the college discount, we can still get a 32 gig for $200.

We're unlikely to see a different design, so the only updates I can imagine are more storage, better battery, etc. My evidence: the iPhone received only minor tech and cosmetic improvements (along with, of course, the drop in price) - what is in store for the iPod touch?

Wow, you get it in 3 to 5 business days and can submit online? That's great and makes this offer even more tempting. I hate dealing with typical rebates.

I just can't decide if I should get in on this deal or wait for the new MBs. The cost is obviously a big plus for this deal.

When are these new MB's likely to come out - July or September/later?

look at the threads in the notebook section. theres much talk about revision dates there. some say after july 14th (montevina) some say after promo ends (sept 15th) others say when nehalem is released (2009-macworld maybe)

I was just browsing my University's discounted store, and I found that iPod Touch's are discounted by 70 when shipped after September 22. The store also has iPod Touch's that will ship in 1-3 business days for full price. It seems that September 20-22 might be the time at which Apple introduces new iPod Touch's.

Does anything think that when Apple runs out of iPod touches, if they do, will only offer the iPod nano for the promotion?

Currently customers can apply the $299 discount to any one iPod product; not just the iPod Touch.

There isn't much that can come for the Touch. If Apple was able to release models with more memory, then we would have seen a yet-higher end iPhone for power users. There's no new hardware to be put in - they barely even touched the iPhone. You will not regret a 32gig iPod Touch for $200 - those won't be around for quite some time.

Apple will not announce their new notebooks ahead of time. Don't plan on it. The first time you hear about them, they'll be available.

Apple will not run out of Touches. You don't have to worry about that.

I bought a new imac last summer with the same deal. The free ipod deal was not affected by the new imac release. I suspect the same will happen again this July when new MacBooks are released.

If I buy everything online will the rebate get to my home within a month? That's the time I have until I leave my current apartment...

Can I submit the rebate right after I purchase the Mac+ipod online or do I have to wait until it ships??

you should receive the rebate check within a week...

and you can try to submit the rebate right after you will receive the receipt number... if this will not work just wait couple hours...
