Too bad support the rest of the Unicode standard is still supported so poorly.
It really gets me that Office v.X can't handle all the great languages in X. Yay for Word support in Panther's TextEdit. ;)

Well for us that IT IS REALLY GREEK , since we live in Greece and use macs, this is a good and free answer on using Greek (non unicode keyboard) on Panther with apps that don't support unicode. Apple should take more seriously some languages. Even some Apple's own apps don't work right with Greek unicode. Hellenic Macintosh User Group (HelMUG) started a petition on that. http://unicode.helmug.gr/

Congratulations to all Greek speakers...I'm studying Koine Greek at university, so it's great news.
I just checked out the site linked from JiMacOs's post.... and it's great. What a great thing. And it starts off with a, good, positive statement about the progress Apple is making. Keep up the good work!
I'm wondering how everybody feels. I work with 3 languages and three different writing systems on a daily basis, not to mention accents for roman scripts. What I'm wondering is why we need anything other than Unicode?
What I'd really like to see is .Mac Homepage utilize Unicode. Right now we're stuck with either English or Japanese... I'm not looking for the whole site to be in every language, but have homepage pages (you know, the ones that don't require skill to make and maintain...) encoded in Unicode so that other scripts can be used.
Certainly Apple is a leader in Unicode support and I APPLAUD APPLE for doing so... I hope it becomes universal soon.
I was very pleased to be able to choose encodings for Mail.app in Panther; however it is still required to set the encoding each and every email.
Yea Unicode!!!!!!!!
