Hi all,

I had to upgrade my Airport Extreme base station to the new 802.11N square model, from an older mushroom cap model. I have it set to 802.11 B, G, N, and my AppleTV sees it and connects without issue, showing four bars of signal strength.
My questions is; is there anyway to tell whether the ATV is connecting at N or G speeds? I looked in set up and found nothing there to indicate which it is doing.

Thanks in Advance!

I don't know about checking this on the AppleTV, but for other Apple machines running Leopard:

There are a couple of ways to do this (I needed to do this myself recently).

First off, you can fire up /Applications/Utilities/Network Utility and look on the first tab. Select the network interface for your Airport card (mine is 'en1'), and you'll see a 'link speed'. 56Mbit/sec is 'g'. I'm getting 130Mbit/sec - so I'm getting faster than 'g', but I don't think that is as fast as 'n' is supposed to be.

The second method is to hold down the option key and select the airport icon in your menu bar. You should see 'transmit rate' in the menu.

Hope that helps!
