Way of "docking" folders to desktop

I remember in OS8 you could dock folders to the side of the desktop – so they appear as tabs. Is this possible in 10.4? Or is there a 3rd party app that does it?

thats what putting the dock to the side of the screen and dock folders/stacks in OS X are for 😀.

^ thats why i wrote "folders/stacks" as you can still have folders in the dock and right click on them in Tiger and earlier.
