okkkk

using a 12" Powerbook as my main system

Current spec.

1GHZ
1.25GB
160GB
24" Samsung external display
Wireless keyboard/mighty mouse

Looking at improving the processor, seen some threads about it... but links were out of date etc...

Anyone shed any light on what i should do? Throw in a 1.5?

Cheers

DayStar used to offer a PowerBook G4 CPU upgrade, but they now list it as discontinued. I suspect finding someone to do a CPU upgrade these days is going to be fairly difficult. Sorry.

well i do have an iMac (see sig). but its for sale.

Its doing a fine job at the moment, as my requirements are pretty simple (iTunes, Safari, iPhoto)

Just upgrading the hard drive had me thinking about what else could be swapped out internally.

I don't think you will find anyone offering that service. Even if you (somehow) did, it would cost more than buying a 1.5 GHz powerbook on craigslist, or even a new macbook.

fair enough,

also has a problem noted by others about fans being on constantly and high when attached to a large external display... and for no apparent reason? Higher workload???

could do with sorting that out too...:apple:

When you connect an external display, the display draws some power from the PB's DVI port. Thus your PB is basically driving the monitor. This will increase the CPU processes and with the extra current being drawn will make your PB run hotter.
