I used to listen to lots of metal and hard stuff. I came to realize that just stresses me out more. Now i like more relaxing things. I like acoustic, bob marley, and some trance. I dont know much good artists and songs in these things so I wanted to see if you guys could give me some recomendations?

Iron & Wine is some great indie folk rock, specifically the older stuff. Samuel Beam recorded the first album on an 8-track in a cabin. How cool is that? Very chill and beautiful lyrics.

another vote for the folks at ministry of sound... and the trancier side of the essential mixes from radio one are awesome and free to dl..
good trance would also be the 'in search of sunrise' mixes by dj tiesto.
my opinion for the best chillout stuff though is Cafe del Mar - there are about 13 albums out now.. it's various artists and just great ambient music, really good when working in photoshop and the like...not much lyrics, just good sounds.
..one more note from the indie scene- the silversun pickups. not very well known yet, but they have a very good sound that doesn't get too hard.

Anything by Air - the first album is great... check out 'Alone in Kyoto' from 'Talkie Walkie'
Anything by Zero Seven
Morcheeba's - Big Calm album is great ("The Sea" is brilliant)
Vangelis - The Balde Runner soundtrack is great (Blade Runner Blues is very cool)
Kate Bush - Get the Hounds of Love Album. 'The Nineth Wave' (the 'B side') is perfectly put together - dreamy, calm and full of ideas
Passenger's - Original Soundtracks 1 album. This is a collaberation between Brian Eno and U2 - with more emphasis on Brian Eno. Very calm
Anything by Brian Eno - Especially the ambient albums
If you're coming from Metal, you might like more chilled out stuff from a metal-type background...
Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts is great ambient music from Trent Reznor
Eric Johnson has some really chilled guitar albums.
There's so much good stuff out there :-)

I would recommend an album by Enigma - Screen Behind the Mirror (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=771163&s=143441) or Love Sensuality Devotion (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=18762644&s=143441). They're a little atmospheric and meditative, but relaxing.
Also, Vangelis' Oceanic (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=6726408&s=143441).

THe Bladerunner soundtrack is in general a good one, and the music is very moody, no doubt about it - but I wouldn't say you could listen to it all the way through expecting the same moodiness - the Bladerunner closing titles is not relaxing at all, and then the "One More Kiss" song (while memorable) isn't relaxing either..
I find the soundtrack to be a bit depressing, and only listen to it when I'm in one of those moods... you know...

RJD2. Has some great music to sit and veg to.
Music Scores. Kind of goes along the same lines as classical. There are some out there that will blow you away. The Fly, Transformers, Spider-Man, Black Hawk Down to name just a few.
If you are into classical, and since you are kinda of like me, like hard metal, death metal, hard core etc... I would look at composers that are from say Russia or Germany. Their music tends to be a little more dark and they use lots of chorals which I love, and it adds to the darkness of the music sometimes.
If you would like some suggestions let me know. I don't know if you like it or not......

There is so much to choose from in the world of chillout music, so I'll just mention one artist nobody has suggested yet: Michael Brook.
He is a guitarist, of the ambient atmospheric mold. Some tunes are very reflective and mellow, others are a more rhythmic and electronic - a fairly wide range of styles. You may have heard some of his music as he did the soundtrack music for Into The Wild and An Inconvenient Truth. Plenty of albums to check out in iTunes or eMusic.com for downloads. Highly recommended. Way too many songs to pin down that are worth having, but just a few are The City, Preparation, and Slow Town from Albino Alligator; Ultramarine, Urbana, and Hawaii from Cobalt Blue; Light Star, and Silverized from RockPaperScissors; and the entire Into The Wild soundtrack and the entire album BellCurve by Michael Brook - they're really, really incredible. You might also want to check out Eddie Vedders Into The Wild soundtrack also for the songs he did for the same film.
Almost all Pat Metheney Group music, going way back to As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls
to the present. Also, look for Lyle Mays' (Metheny Group keyboardist/pianist) solo albums - really high level jazz, much of it very relaxing.
Also, I'm reaquainting myself with Jan Hammer, of the old Miami Vice theme. He has played with Al Dimeola and John McLaughlin in the 70s and 80s, and some of his electronic keyboard sounds are a bit dated and 80s soundtracky sounding, but he has a unique sound and if you cherry pick his stuff there is a ton of really cool, music (not all relaxing, but a lot of it can be) Look more toward select cuts from In The Mind's Eye (Beyond, Voyage Home, Midnight, Nothing But Love) and from SNAPSHOTS 1.2 (Red Dragon, One Way Out, Theme From A Modern Affair.) These should get you started.
Three songs from Nuspirit Helsinki always make my chill list - Circular Motion, Orson (Album Mix), and Subzero.
Also, check out some older Conjure One, Delerium and Zero 7 music - all would go well together.
All the other suggestions are great too, and there are so many more.... you'll have a great time getting relaxed. ;)
