Lets get a grip people. This person is obviously full of poopy.
Anyone could create an account and do what he is doing.
If someone truly had information they wouldn't go about it this way.
Oh yeah well what way would they go about it, and what makes you the authority on how to go about giving info out about the new iPhone?

"3.2 MP Camera (Camera APP also received an update with new features such as zoom, brightness control, resolution, etc...)"
Regardless if it's true or not they would be nice updates to Camera.app :)

We get no early information.

They certainly don't get early design drafts of the iPhone.
When I asked him if the pictures on page 2 were real he said yes then saw that one of them was missing the sleep button and changed his tune to "that looks like an early design".
Managers do not get early designs of things like the iPhone 3G.

there is no possible way that you can cram as much info into your brain that the iphone offers. it took me a week to figure out all that my iphone has to offer. im sure you need to be trained at length to be able to teach other people about it. (especially the conference setup feature)

Yeah and then the keynote ends and half the crap you thought was coming because you believed wampawampa16 on Macrumors because he typed out a collaboration of existing rumors and then says he has confirmation. YEAH RIGHT!
Then you guys Whaaaaa Whaaaa for three to seven days on the forums because [insert rumored feature or product] didn't come or wasn't released.
At least require a shred of evidence before you go believing an anonymous poster with no credentials.

Well I have the iPhone 1 and if the iPhone 2 doesn't come with what I want I might thinks it's lame, however I don't want much more, just GPS and some better speakers. So I doubt I will be the one complaining.

Mate, we get no information prior to the launch. We don't have the iPhone here yet but we have no info about it either.
Every Apple product launch requires me to get up at 3am and start reading because the punters will be calling at 8:30am when I get into the store asking if the new iDoohicky works with XYZ product or supports some random video format.
It took you a week, it takes us a week but we do it by finding out as we go - Apple do not provide us with any info for unreleased products, not the retail staff, not the managers, not even the owner of our chain of resellers. We get nothing.
The week after an Apple product launch 90% of our phone calls involve saying "No, we do not have the new product in stock" and "I don't know if it supports that, let me just find out (while I'm typing their question into google.com and checking this forum out)" - it's annoying but it's the way Apple keep the secrets safe.

Im not sure, but isnt there something off here with the date?
Aus is over the International dateline, so the 10th/Tuesday would be Monday/9th here. So Australia is going to get to open the item at/before the same time as Steve announces it in the US?

Hmmmm.
I posted that a while back and it's the backbone of my "It's BS" argument.
Apple would have put a time on the envelope because come the 10th of June anyone could crack that baby open and start posting picks. Midnight on the 10th is a good three hours before the keynote even starts... totally fake.
Three hours is more than enough time to get high quality pics and reviews to the big news sites - even on the other side of the world where the keynote is being held. The boffins in the front row could be reading reviews, see a detailed pull-apart of the product and have already condemned it's shortcomings before the Black Eyed Peas music had even begun over the PA.

I am back, i'm sorry but my wifi connection went dead for a little while. I need to address a few things i have read. First off, many of you have very decent points on why i shouldnt be credible, and you're exactly right that anyone could do this, and ill be the first to admit if i saw this i would be skeptical. But...I will promise you, everything i am telling you is the bonafide truth.
Managers DO in fact receive a lot of information before a product release. All of the Genius's in my store have already gone through training manuals and is prepping for the new phone. If you work at an Apple store too and dont get the same treatment, sorry, but that's how its been for my store since i started there.
Also, a few comments on what i said about the pictures. My comments about the pictures being an early design were trying to state that it looks almost identical to the phone, but a few changes, meaning that this is most likely just an early adapted model they used for ATT posters to get an idea of what the posters would look like.
If you do not believe me, that is your perrogative, I am simply trying to help some people out.

Alright, i've heard enough of this Hoax business, so here's the deal. I am a sales manager in an Apple store in the United States and i can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that we also received boxes like this and they have been sitting "unopened" in the back of our stores for about 4 days now. The box you are seeing in the photo is enclosed in another box, that box is a plain brown box with only a shipping label. THE PHOTOS ARE IN FACT REAL.
if the photos are real and the date on the box says "do not open until june 10th" and you said that the iphone2 will come out on the 16th, then i'll let you guys do the math

I'm not sure if you are what you say you are, but I think so. There are some things you've said that I just think are insider and couldn't be deduced.
Which brings me to a question. I'm asking you via PM to avoid changing the discussion on the Aussie thread.
In the thread you said:
"There are a few more cool things i'll let you wait for the keynote to find out about.....there are a few things no one is expecting.....
And oh.......not phone.....but phone's (more than one model)"
So any chance that is some addition to or case redesign of the MPB/MB line? The only other thing I could think of would be something along these lines:
http://www.mobilewhack.com/new-apple...acbook-rumors/
I say that because the boxes at the shipping factory seemed to be iMac size, with the brown ones being slightly larger. (from viewing the pictures here on the threads at macrumors)

He said there would be a new model coming out on the 30th, and when asked, he said he' d rather have the model which comes out on the 16th? Maybe the one coming out later will have some sort of slide out keyboard? I know its unlike Apple to go against something Steve Jobs believes is the best (ie. a touchscreen keyboard). But maybe along with the 2.0 Update, a slide out keyboard version would help them get those Blackberry businessmen they're after!

So, I am guessing that this thread will make it to 1k by morning....
Based on the looks of the pics, it appears to be about the same thinness, but Apple is good at making products look even thinner then what they are (macbook air). I am guessing weight is at least the same since they are adding hardware.

wow that sucks bad. unlocking my iphone sounds better and better everyday:D
If the info is correct from earlier about the iPhone 3G's hardware, unlockers are going to be MIGHTY disappointed. iPhone 3G does not do 1700mhz UMTS, which means 3G WILL NOT WORK ON TMOBILE. You'll still be able to connect via GSM/EDGE on T-Mobile, but then why would you buy a 3G iphone? I'm sure AT&T is VERY happy with this arrangement. Because T-Mobile is one of the only carriers in the world using the 1700mhz band, I wouldn't doubt that AT&T nudged Apple in that direction. Although since it is so rare, the main chip manufacturers probably don't offer it in many 3G chipsets...

whether this information is true or not... I enjoyed reading.
A lot of features mentioned are kind of expected, its just the look of it. Regardless of the fact, I was waiting for 3G before I personally got an iPhone. My sisters iPhone is slick and it is fantastic.
According to Macworld UK (http://www.macworld.co.uk/ipod-itunes/news/index.cfm?newsid=21562&pagtype=allchandate) 02 should be offering the iPhone for £100 which suits me perfectly! It's just the finer details on price plan I want to know now.

MacTalk.com.au posts (http://forums.mactalk.com.au/19/50612-whats-box-3g-iphone-lands-down-under.html) a photo of a box that was sent to Australian resellers yesterday. The boxes are sealed with a warning:June 10th is the day after the Worldwide Developers Conference keynote speech where Steve Jobs is expected to announce the 3G capable iPhone. MacTalk speculates that the box may actually contain a demo model of the 3G iPhone.
Vodafone (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/05/06/vodafone-to-deliver-iphone-in-australia-italy-and-other-countries/) and SingTel (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2008/05/12/singtel-announces-iphone-in-singapore-india-the-philippines-and-australia/) both announced that they would be bringing the iPhone to Australia later this year.

I cannot believe how rude some of the people have been to Carenstation's postings. Whether he is real or fake he's politely answering your lame arse rude questions politely and does not need to do so. You lot act like you're the most devout apple fanatic and ahve a right to bite at anyone who tries to proclaim that they may have more information than you. Get off your high horses and start learning some manners. Believe rumours or not but how many of you frequently bash and flame rumor mongers only to find that the rumors are actually true. Every rumor should be taken with a grain of salt and its not your pitiful right to be nasty when trying to make a point on why you dont believe something. i thought Apple fans were more sophisticated than that - unfortunately it just seems like it the growing popularity in Apple products is bringing in some Rude Nerdy PC types.

I wouldn't call it rude. Entertaining maybe :D. Isn't that what we're all here for? Entertainment? If we wanted facts, we'd all be on www.MacTruths.com (aka apple.com) and certainly not a website that calls itself MacRumors.com :)
I do have to question whether "carenstation" is a real person. If they really work for Apple, then why would they leak info (some quite credible)? Their loyalty must surely lie with Apple - since that's where their paycheck comes from. And who's going to jeapordize their paycheck in these uncertain times just to help out a few overanxious geeks (myself included :) ) on an internet chatboard?
Something doesn't add up.

Based on everything said, if he would rather have one on the 16th, perhaps a larger one will be released on the 16th, with the smaller, cheaper one, being released on the 30th. I agree with the different screen sizes hypothesis. Definitely a good thread.

Just thought I would chuck this in, I asked someone at the Apple Store in Bluewater if there is a new iPhone coming out (I acted computer illiterate and said my friend told me a faster one would be out soon) and first he said no there wasent, it was just rumors, so then i asked "So no chance at all, then?" and he said that nothing has been officially announced and to keep checking Apple.com if I want to find out... Yeah, I know Apple employees in the stores probably know as much as we do but I thought I would ask while I was here.

Why is Apple shipping items in boxes that are upside down? In the OP the box shows the ISO circle under the "label." Could this be because the faker needed a box that looked to be unopened so he took a box he already had and FLIPPED IT OVER to the already taped side? I believe so. Ive never seen an Apple box with the ISO circle on the top of the box.

I was just thinking about Peace’s speculation yesterday about this being “underground marketing"...
Carenstation87’s sudden appearance right before launch, reminds me of imLucid’s sudden appearance on the AppleTV take2 board just before launch. They both claim to be Apple insiders and both post very lucid, credible information about the product.
For an extra twist here, “Baffles”, shows up in a similar timeframe in the 3G cycle. He baffles and distracts us while he steers the discussion safely away from the actual product and onto a cardboard box :D . Nice job, sir. (There might have been a Baffle-esque persona in the appleTV board too, but to be honest I wasn’t following that one closely and may have missed him - anyone remember?)
Oddly, Both imLucid and Carenstation87 (the ‘truthful’ ones) speak with the same ‘voice’. Compare their style of posting.
So here’s what I think:
They’re marketing personas, designed to control and redirect pre-launch speculation.
“Baffles” plays bad-cop. His job is to baffle and distract us with fuzzy info and irrelevant discussions. He occupies us so we have no time to generate unrealistic (damaging?) product speculation.
The “imLucid” and “Carenstation87” personas are the good guys. Yay! They're wheeled in when we throw “Baffles” overboard. Their job is to establish credibility by slowly drip-feeding us genuine info. Steer pre-launch buzz and, more importantly, quash unrealistic product expectations that might cause Monday’s unveiling to fizzle. (“What!!! There’s no BeamMeUpNowScotty button! MacRumours promised me one!! What a crap phone :) ) I like Caren’s melodramatic touches, btw: “...i have 8 minutes until the connection dies ...”. Very "Mission Impossible". Thrilling stuff!
So that’s what I think this is all about. A bit of harmless marketing fun. Certainly “Different”.
And I apologize to the above named if I’ve mischaracterized any of your roles. Just playing the game, you know. :)

We have had training guides and and documentation on the new iPhone for almost 3 weeks now. An Apple representative came and replaced our hard wired firmware erasers with new bases last week and installed a 3G AT&T base station in our store. The only reason such a tight lid has been kept on this is because Apple sent out a notice that any leaked information would result in instant termination. Let me give you an idea about what this new phone will be like.
Here is what I can without a doubt CONFIRM for you:
3G (Obvious)
Increased space: 16 and 32gb models.
Real GPS
Three colors : White, Black, and Red
Video Conferencing
New Firmware on the device (also obvious)
3.2 MP Camera (Camera APP also received an update with new features such as zoom, brightness control, resolution, etc...)
SMS App update (now includes MMS and Video messaging support)
Price drop: starts at 300
There are a few more cool things i'll let you wait for the keynote to find out about.....there are a few things no one is expecting.....
And oh.......not phone.....but phone's (more than one model)
:)
Good Day
PS.
I am a regular on this site but created a new username and signed up through a proxy just for safety......hope you dont mind the spoilers.
I just had a thought and wonder if it has anything to do with the launch of a new 3G iPhone. Between all the subsidy info, etc, I began to think how this would work. AT&T is losing a lot of money by people buying iPhones and not activating them in the store (buying and selling unlocked).
I have been buying the refurb phones and recently bought a new one from my local AT&T store, unlocking them and making a fortune on ebay 250 a pop.
I have been going to this store locally for a while now and recognize all the regular employees, but last week when I stopped by to pick-up one of their last few 8Gb iPhones in stock the crew was completely different. There were two guys working on the computers like the tech people at my work. It looked like they were upgrading the computers with software or something of the kind. The third guy in the store was from the main corporate store he said. I didn't think anything of it, but now that this above post said they have updated the Apple store stuff a few weeks back I started to get curious. Do you think they are updating their computers to support activation of iPhones in the store so you have no choice to, but to activate it and give AT&T your money? For me it doesn't matter since I use AT&T.
Just some food for thought.

Currency conversion? This is 2008! When I'm at the store I want to wave my phone over the bar code on the shelf or the package, and see the price in a currency of my choosing! Oh and sales tax added on automatically.

Thank you caren for all your info.... I actually believe you and am very excited to buy my first iPhone on the 16 !
Although, I kinda wish they kept the colors the same as now.... I love the black/silver but I am sure I'll love any iPhone.

Delusions of grandeur would apply to you, my English buddy, for thinking that you have the absolute answer on the matter. You, with 100% certainty, know that this is a pile of crap, and you are a renegade on this site, bringing truth to the ignorant masses. That's very kind of you, The Omnipotent One from Hampshire...
I like this thread for the same reason I like Indiana Jones: It takes me away from the everyday monotony that is reality. Oh, but I happen to think that this may be true, just like their might be a G-d, in some form, but how the hell would I know...ya mean? I'll stick to Agnosticism, it gives me a way out...
Excuse me? I have delusions of grandeur? For commenting that *I* found this thread to be totally nonsense and a waste of *my* time? Who the hell are you? Where in my comment did I state that I make 100% confirmation that it's all BS? I'm a renegade? WTF? Omni-potent? We're all entitled to our own opinions on anything that appears on MR, I made mine, as I have that right, I do not however have the right to specifically 'out' a person and if you read my post you'll see I did no such thing...you on the other hand.......

Well, there has actually been many attempts at that, even as far back as the old "pocket PCs" from 5-10 years ago that they connected to a bar code reader for books and looked up prices at amazon over a serial-connection to a cellphone that was used as a dial-up modem. This was for the crazy garage sale people who bought books and sold them on ebay auctions and Amazon.
Obviously, more recently with camera phones and powerful processors, a digital picture can now decode the bar code. I believe there are aleady a few apps that do this on the market, and there is a particularly good implementation using Android which could easily be adapted to the iPhone. Apparently there is some free web service database on the internet of products and their associated decoded barcode numbers. This could be an awesome thing when you are looking around at a [insert your country's popular big-box electronics store] store and want to check out prices online at ebay/amazon/shopping.com/etc.
*edit: As far as the currency selection, that would be the simplest part to do with a currency converter web service. Sales tax could also easily be added in by the state you are shopping in (even out of your home state via GPS)

Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/07/the-3g-iphone-not-unboxed/2#comments) is claiming the unboxing of this so called '3G iPhone' a fake - you be the judge.
I concur with Engadget and call fake; simply because if you hold down the control button (^) and zoom in with your mouse to where the 'front facing camera' is - it seems as though someone used a circular paintbrush from Photoshop or spray can from Windows Paint in gray to lay in the camera. Also, upon further inspection - it seems as though there's an incredible amount of noise in that area.
Simply looks like a Colorware iPhone; clearly someone that has too much time on their hands to create a fake letter and put said items in a box.

It is a paint brush of some kind. You can see the jaggies there, while other areas just have the usual amount of noise that a fake photo has.

I read the entire thread today.
There was a lot of white noise and disinformation, true!
But, I believe that the info carenstation87 provided is true...
...minor details like the NDA-labeled box being packaged within a nondescript box... that's exactly how it would be delivered, to prevent unwanted curiosity by the courier or someone on the receiving dock.
Carenstation87 gave a lot of info, but none of it was earthshaking, rather "good to hear" confirmation of existing suspicions and rumors.
The way Carenstation87 answered questions was also credible: without hesitation and concise.
Because Carenstation87 didn't or wouldn't post images does not, necessarily, disqualify him... image posting requires a URL and that can be easily traced.
Finally, Carenstation87 did not do an information dump, but added little details... and left some things to be discovered.
As some others have said, this may have just been creative marketing by Apple.
If so, all the more reason to believe the details provided.

To me, all his answers were best guess answers, nothing new, nothing that hasn't already been discussed. What's more is, nobody here can give him hell once WWDC is over, because, coincidently, he cannot come back here...... I just don't understand how people suddenly believe a 'nobody' who simply reiterated what has already been discussed, with no proof of who he is, what he does, or how he got the info. How is it more believable coming from this person than the many people who have discussed the same rumours here for a while now?

I agree (and stated so) that carenstation87's facts & answers were not earthshaking.
What impressed me was not so much what he said, but how he said it.
Carenstation87's original post (Post #443 below) talked about the box within a box-- that's how Apple handles it. I've not seen that mentioned anywhere else on any rumor site. (I was tempted to post this as a possibility, but was too busy reading this thread)
Then, there's the 3.2 MP camera-- why only 3.2 MP when the iPhone chips support 5 MP (and other phones support up to 7 MP)? If carenstation87 were going to jerk us around, this would be a natural to exaggerate. But, this (3.2MP) has all the earmarks of a SJ decision-- good enough for pics, barcode and image recognition, but in balance with the other iPhone capabilities.
He answered questions (or not) concisely, without embellishment!
Later, when asked ATT-specific questions, carenstation87 demurred, rather than just giving some answer that he really didn't know.
If you review all of carenstation87's posts, you will find they are presented in a no-nonsense way. The style used and the "facts" presented are what I would expect from a Manager of an Apple store. It felt solid and reliable (professional) rather than the imaginings of an amateur* or a geek*.
* I mean amateur (one who does something because he loves to do it) and geek (one who is technologically proficient) in the best sense of the words.
FWIW, you, I, or even Arn could be carenstation87's alter-ego :D
Below, is carenstation87's first post.:
Alright, i've heard enough of this Hoax business, so here's the deal. I am a sales manager in an Apple store in the United States and i can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that we also received boxes like this and they have been sitting "unopened" in the back of our stores for about 4 days now. The box you are seeing in the photo is enclosed in another box, that box is a plain brown box with only a shipping label. The photos are in fact real.
:)
Good Day

Actually, that is usually the way it works. If you were in an apple store shortly after the iPhone launch, you would have noticed that the employees had just learned and were still learning how to use all of the iPhone's features. The employees I talked to mentioned that the time their store was closed right before the phones were on sale was their only training time on the iPhone.
there is no possible way that you can cram as much info into your brain that the iphone offers. it took me a week to figure out all that my iphone has to offer. im sure you need to be trained at length to be able to teach other people about it. (especially the conference setup feature)

The employees I talked to mentioned that the time their store was closed right before the phones were on sale was their only training time on the iPhone.
Most of the Apple Store and ATT employees already know (or can easily pick up) the basics of the current iPhone. What they will need to learn is the expected differences between that and the new iPhone:
--pricing, contracts, activation
--3G vs Edge
--App store
--3rd-party Apps
--new Apple-supplied apps
--other expected new hardware/application features
Additionally managers and select personnel will need to be knowledgeable in:
--Enterprise sales, pricing, contracts, activation
--3rd-party Enterprise apps
--Enterprise app distribution (IT equivalent of App Store)
So, Apple could send the boxes containing the expected stuff (well rumored) and pre-train all of the employees at little risk (who's going to believe any leaks or posts ;).
What about the (expected) unexpected WOW features that SJ will announce, things like:
----optional stylus input
----handwriting recognition
----voice recognition
----RFID input (for those Japanese metros, etc)
----barcode recognition
----fingerprint/iris scan recognition
----Universal Remote Control interface to everything
----iTunes store & GPS assisted shopping (browsing/comparing/locating/ordering/cashless buying) from 3rd-party vendors
One way to mitigate the initial onslaught of customers seeking answers is to have back-to-back interactive presentations by a few highly-trained employees. The Apple stores are setup for this kind of training-- ATT, not so much. Apple could send these internally-trained specialists from headquarters to each Apple Store (and each major town with ATT or Reseller stores) that will carry the iPhone. They would provide interactive customer sessions as well in-depth staff training for the new WOW features (during the week delay between announce and availability).
That said, I think that Apple will do things differently/better this time. I think the retail stores will sell and book orders day 1, for delivery or pickup when available.
I believe that the iTunes store will let you buy an iPhone as well as an iPod for pickup or delivery!
I believe that Apple Stores and other Resellers will be able to book customer sales (and receive credit) through the iTunes Store and Apple Online Store-- the objective: satisfy (sell) the customer who is ready to buy!
I believe that Apple is betting the Farm on this announcement and will spare no cost to make it succeed!
That's how I'd do it!

Just because a few things are up in the air regarding an upcoming event or adventure doesn't mean that you can't let yourself get all jazzed up about it! Uncertainty is its own kind of excitement, and you should get comfortable with it. Sure, things could fall through and your plans might not come to fruition, but so what? At least you enjoyed that happiness and anticipation. Plus, you will feel more grounded and comfortable about not knowing every little thing in the future.

Look back at their last post. Under their username is their site "ranking", and caren is banned. A mod finally caught up with this part of the thread, and having multiple accounts, which caren openly admitted, is cause for instant removal. It's in the forum rules.
oh - that's dull - I was hoping for a nice conspiracy theory with Apple lawyers calling up and insisting that user is banned for spilling the beans. ;)
just a couple of days to go, I hope most of this stuff is right because if it is, that's going to be one heck of a device. I also hope that it's just sold unlocked (at an unsubsidised price) so we can all enjoy it. That - however - with Apple's announcements of partners in various countries, seems unlikely.

In fact, this is exactly how a hoax works. How you say it is much more important than what you say. The best hoaxes occur when you have a "believer community" (and guess what we are), that is champing at the bit for secret or unobtainable information. It doesn't matter how ridiculous the thing you say is, it just has to be inline with their expectations in a general sort of way, and you have to deliver it in a very convincing way.
Everyone who's ever been taken in by a con artist say much the same thing:

But, what he was selling was nothing new-- every feature he put forward has been bandied-about on the various rumor sites.
All he did was confirm some rumors, eliminate others and hint at some more. His biggest claim was that the store had, in fact, received early information, training and display material (under NDA).
That's not "way out there", because that's now it's done! That's how a manufacturer does a major product rollout (multiple resellers and multiple countries).
... Some would call SJ a con-artist, what with the RDF and all!

And who's going to jeopardize their paycheck in these uncertain times just to help out a few overanxious geeks (myself included :) ) on an internet chatboard?
Something doesn't add up.
A paycheck doesn't always buy an employer loyalty...
And there are daredevils of all different sorts, a bit of a rush perhaps on his (her) part to work the edge of leaking information and not getting caught.
Or... one hell of a story teller having a bit of fun watching everyone piss themselves. Have you read some of the questions and comments? You can almost see the drool coming from their mouths.
It is pretty entertaining! And I think its safe to say, more than one of the features they mentioned are pretty obvious additions to the next gen iPhone. To keep abreast of market trends, a variety of colors and even a second model (smaller perhaps?) seems logical.
If there is to be one with a big increase in features, not everyone will really need them all... add in a lower cost, and you're able to market to another group.
And while the joy of this site is RUMOR, no one here is really going to know anything 100% for sure until Steveo holds it up and our mouth drop open along with our wallets on Monday.
Oh, and someone mentioned some of the very rude replies and flaming... I agree! Come on folks, some basic manners please. why get yourselves so worked up that we have to act like *******s to one another???

Well, I don't see why Apple would send material regarding the new Sydney Apple Store to the people who are going to be hit the hardest by it's opening - the CBD-based resellers.
So far it's just one box from one reseller - doesn't make sense to me. If Apple were doing a Sydney-localised roll out of demo iPhones with the demo screen saver etc on the CD and a print copy of the manual for the staff then we would have reports from the many Sydney based reseller stores - we've only seen one box.

Okay, I was looking into who Carenstation was, just out of curiosity. I wanted to see if it was a hoax or not. So, I did a little sleuthing. I carefully read everything he had written, and I picked up some clues as to which Apple Store he works at. He mentioned that he was using the citywide wifi, and that he was in the US, so I cross-referenced all the US Apple Stores with a list of all US cities with public wifi. I found 21 matches. Carenstation mentioned that he was the sales manager. I looked in the list of Apple retail positions, and found that there was no sales manager. I chose the next best option, which was store manager. I went through all the stores that I had come up with, and saw if they had a current opening for a store manager. If they did, they could be eliminated. I eliminated two this way. But now, I'm stuck. I have 19 possible stores that Carenstation works at, but because Apple doesn't publish a list of their stores' employees, I don't have a list of 19 names, like I wanted. After I get the names, I can research them online, and find out more information about them, such as find out which one of them has a Macrumors user name (he said he was a regular, and had another user name). But I don't know how to go about getting that list of names, short of calling all the stores. Does anyone have any ideas? I'll post the links to all the relevent Apple Store pages.
Thanks in advance!

Blimey - people complain about the hoaxers having too much time on their hands ;)
How do you know the guy wasn't on holiday, or visiting another city?
As for the vacant positions - maybe Apple found him already.....
And why do you care? Or are you trying to fire his arse?

If he's an Apple Store sales manager, he's not on vacation right now, trust me. He has to be ready for the 3G iPhone launch, and he doesn't have time to take a vacation.
They might've, but I don't think they would have had the time within the last day to find him, fire him, and update the available jobs page.
I just want to know if he's really an Apple Store sales manager or not. I want to know if the information's credible. I can't wait another day :P

I don't think we'll ever know that. I'm not sure I want to - it would spoil the tantalizing fun :)
And anyway, I'm not sure it's a good idea to try to track the real person down and unmask them - scooby-doo style. Chances are it'll be the wrong person and they'll have an expensive lawyer in the wings. Where does healthy curiosity end and cyberstalking begin? Really don't want to test that one.
Another day to go. This is killing me. Anyone got any more blurry photos left? Don't care what they are. Just post 'em and let the good times roll. :D

...Now I just need some money and a lot of justification to give the wife. This is very unlikely to work... :o
I bought the wife a macbook last year. Wasn't even interested in computers at the time, but now she has her whole life on it: email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, the lot. Totally smitten.
I only had to suggest "Hmmm, wouldn't it be great if you could sync all your stuff on a phone and pop it in your handbag?";). Bingo! :)
Of course I'll get one too; it's only fair :D

I think it's only cyberstalking if you know who you're stalking. But I don't think I really want to continue to pursue him anyways, just because I can't find any other way of finding who he is without calling 19 Apple Stores, and I hate talking on the phone :P Plus, I was really only doing this to procrastinate from whatever the hell it is I'm supposed to be doing. Well, that, and I sorta did wanna know.... Well, I guess I'll just have to wait for the vid to come out tomorrow, then.

Here's the picture and it's fake because I used Ps and this popped up before opening it.
In other-words somebody Photoshopped it on an iMac.

Well, not saying its not a fake, but how else do you think they put the black box in the picture and the watermark?

I said that only because none of the other pics had the color profile embedded. In fact one had camera data that stated 8 megapixel when in fact the camera in question only does 5.1 megapixel.

I think most of the gadget sites agree that it's a Colorware iPhone with a lens badly photoshopped on.
just so you know, colorware doesn't color the front of iphones. So that phone wouldn't be anything colorware it seems, but sure it could be photoshopped.
either way I don't care, tomorrow is the day.

It's also fake because Apple wouldn't put a black logo on a black back. It would be silver or something.
Also look at the top left corner. They overdid the paint job.

So are you a designer at Apple now? Just kidding. ;) I would tend to agree. But who knows, the black would look pretty good IMO.

i would open the box and either sell or buy AAPL as soon as the markets open and before the keynote. Nobody else would be in on it and there would be no photos, etc. on rumor sites. If it is a loaded device, with all the stuff people want, then buy. If it isn't, then sell. It usually goes down anyway because the anal-ists really want it to.

I think some people are saying its the aluminum to match the rest of the line. But it sure doesn't look like it. I'm not sure how to feel about this. I sort of hope its not the real thing, but I know Apple won't let us down. I'm sure it will look great!

I keep looking at this, and I'm pretty sure I found a major indicator this is fake. If you zoom in, you can see where on the back there is the break between the black plastic and silver on the current gen. Unless Apple is just changing the front, this has to be fake.

thank-god someone picked up the legitimacy of this photo because this iphone looks HORRIBLE!!! As if anyone likes grey. silver perhaps. the back is disgusting as well. Let's hope it is a fake. (i'd rather the iphone that carenstation87 said was real).

I finally found more concrete proof!!!!!! If everyone would care to look at the back of the case...does anyone else notice what's wrong with the apple logo???? there's no leaf at the top!! FAKE FAKE FAKE!! Yay. We can finally rejoice and become hopeful again that the 3G iPhone will be better than this hunk of junk fake.
EDIT: Found even more! Where the hell is all the written stuff on the back? No size, no apple crap 'manufactured in china' info.
EDIT 2: There is written stuff, but it is so miniscule, it can be safely said that Apple wouldn't do that

no leaf, and the logo doesn't even look correct in perspective. The photos that "sales manager" confirmed to be similar to the photos are the flickr ones with the three colors, so I never paid attention to these, all of them seem to have an unfinished quality to their looks, nothing like apple creates. But I'm done with these rumors, I'll be back during the keynote.:D

It's photoshopped.. It's totally fake!
I remember when the iPod Nano 3G came out.
On this site there had been a mockup that almost everyone said was fake. It had been photoshopped. In the end, it looked a lot like the real deal.
So just because this is photoshopped, doesn't mean that it is fake or or real for that matter. It could be the real iPhone 2 but photoshopped to look fake.
Who knows?
However, in about 7-8 hours we'll know. :)
