Hi all,

I'm wondering whether *voice* travels over the same network (e.g. HSPA) as data? The reason I ask is that my current iPhone gets pretty terrible coverage (also evidenced on the AT&T coverage map for my zip) but the same area is blanketed in lovely dark blue, indicating good 3G reception. So... is it possible that my voice coverage will be improved with a 3G iPhone?

Thanks!

3G has nothing to do with voice coverage, it's all data.

Not really :)

3G is a voice & data network. It does both.

I find that if both callers are on a 3G network, the quality is pretty awesome. You also don't get DOS (Denial of Service) responses as much, as 3G can allow for many more sockets vs 2G.

I believe 3G voice allows more calls per tower which will be helpful for situations where you have a lot of users.

please tell me more...

OP, when you have good 3G coverage and bad GSM coverage it will be helpful and you can make a call on 3G.
