Wondering if this is possible.
I want to install a larger HD in My macbook pro.
But I don't want to have much downtime. Can I buy a new drive, put it in an external enclosure, install the os and all the software onto the external drive. Then when everything is done "simply" pop the new HD in?
I have super duper, but I would rather do a fresh install on the new drive.
Thanks in advance.

it would be much beter to back up to an external drive then make the switch.
PLease note that this action may void your warranty.

Back up your documents, install the new drive, install OS X like you would, and put the documents back on.

If you break it while installing.

Not sure you get what I want to do.
I want to install all of the software and OS onto the new drive externally at my leisure. Then when it is all ready I can do the installation of the drive. This is to minimize the downtime. I have a lot of stuff to install.
Cheers.
Also, warranty is over.

Okay; make sure you install it on the external drive plugged into the computer you plan to use it on.
