With everyone so caught in the price of gas people seem to not be noticing the cost of electricity is sky rocketing as well.

Right now I am locked in though the end of 08 at 11.4 cents per KWh. My month power bill works out to be general around 100 a month give or take. I been keeping an eye on the cost of electricity and I am looking at a near 100% increase come 09 when I have to either sign a new contract or go month to month.

To me this is just as much if not more of a problem than gas with power price climbing just as quickly. Having to absorb that cost along with every thing else is going to tight. Right now I am just glad I am locked in at the rate I am which at the time I though was high but now is cheaper than everyone else.

Day = 13.32 pence = 26.24 US cents at todays date
Night = 4.62 pence = 9.10 US cents at todays date

Nuclear electricity as it was sold in the 50s and 60s; all the free power you can burn.

The above rates are what is known as Economy 7 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_7); something I might change in the near future to a flat rate.

Electricity used from 9pm-9am (off-peak): 5 cents per kWh.
Electricity used from 9am-9pm (on-peak): 15.8 cents per kWh.

Then on top of that, I opted into the renewable energy program through my power company, so it adds an extra 1 cent to each of those so I get all of my power from wind, solar, or geothermal sources.

EDIT: I live in Phoenix, just for geographical clarification.

They claimed it'd be cleaner too, but my nuclear energy comes from France!

WARNING !!!

If you are on a contract, and your provider offers some change, any change, do NOT accept it.

You will probably lose your previously agreed price structure.

12¢ per kw-hr plus a demand charge (they call it a "meter fee") of $18 per month. My usage runs generally $50 per month in summer and $30 per month in winter.

Can't gripe about the rate. Our co-op has the most miles of line and the fewest customers of any in the U.S.

PG&E utility bills are all but impossible to fully decipher, but they set a "baseline" usage and then have a tiered pricing schedule. I'm paying:

$0.11556/KWh for baseline
$0.13142/KWh for 101-130% of baseline
$0.22580/KWh for 131-200% of baseline

Renew now then, if they will let you.

December, and cold weather, are both a long way off.

I've mentioned it going up before.

1) Service Charge - $6.00

2) Energy Charge (per kWh)

High Peak Period - $0.14377
Low Peak Period - $0.08793
Base Period - $0.03780

It's actually pretty cheap considering.
