Well I was hoping I could use much of my current stuff that is running under XP while I gradually make the move to mac.

So I ported my xp it with transporter to parallels on MBP but it demands an activation code. My XP was OEM.

Stuck.

Any way around it ? Could I buy a copy of XP but just use the
activation code with the ported system ? What XP would I need - would I get into difficulties with different service-pack versions, could I use an OEM version like this one (lots cheaper) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-OEM-Windows-Home-Service/dp/B000GWKNH2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1212952085&sr=8-1

any other way around this ?

I'm in UK but will be in US the next few days - could I get something cheaper there to fix this problem ? I can understand why Ms want money out of me but I don't want a new version, just the old one with everything in already instead of months of installing and configuring.

Comparing this with the Mac approach to running on a new machine I am soooooo glad to be moving to mac.
