opposed to the $899 it is/ has been over eBay

just looking on the positive side.

Not bloody likely. The first rule of Apple's Australian pricing is "don't mention the exchange rate" - we'll pat a fair bit more than $730 if it's US$699 over there.

Possibly but you must remember, a US phone is going to be locked to AT&T meaning you'll need to hack it. Once you've hacked it in Apple's eyes it's no longer an iPhone and won't be supported in any way shape or form.

Best to wait and get the real Aussie iPhone. If you're too impatient and want one from ebay I think you need to examine your priorities because if that ebay iPhone dies you're on your own.

alrighty.
ill hold off then.
but, there are Australian services that offer to re-lock your phone.
wont that mean ill just send it back to apple in the US?

No - because it's not activated with AT&T.

Of course they did - eBay exists solely to scam people. Buy it legit or don't buy it at all - it's rule of mine that hasn't failed yet.

Nope - eBay is for scamming. I don't trust it at all.

Judging by the fact there are already 2 providers signed up here in Aus, and probably a third soon, you can expect the price to fall not long after the release.

good for us in the UK too if there is a delayed launch

To be honest, there is never really any correlation between the value of the US dollar and apple prices abroad.

Hear hear, couldn't have said it much better, except Paypal could have been listed alongside eBay in that statement. So many people are topping using eBay, but still so many use it. Amazon Marketplace is apparently getting a lot more trade and deserved that is too.

why is it deserved for Amazon to get more trade?
