How To Refresh "Open With..." Apps List

So I just updated VLC to the latest version but as you can see in the screenshot, my "Open With" list is inaccurate and out of date. Is there anyway to "refresh" the list?

Sure, you just need to rebuild your Launch Services database (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031215144430486)

Oh, and remember: don't steal films, even Will Smith ones :p

The command mentioned at macosxhints.com doens't work for 10.5 (seems lsregister has moved)

This command worked for me


locate lsregister -kill -r -all local,system,user
