I hate how the new iPhone screen has a litle border to the left and right of it. The old screen went right to the edges which made it look much much better.

yeah I just noticed that actually, kinda weird since the new one is only 1mm wider than the old one, yet has the same screen...

It might help with touching the edges of the screen while holding the phone though...

i agree.
it looks less "sophisticated," if you get what i mean.
and i dont like the plastic back either, its kind of what set the look of the iPhones apart from others.

hmm, thats the sort of nagging thing that would make me wait for the colorware version.

The iPhone 3G in black is beautiful. Have you considered that they placed:
a) Better battery (larger capacity)
b) 3G capable chipset
c) GPS capable chipset

While only changing dimensions 5%

Whine elsewhere.

agreed, the benefits far outweigh any minimal changes

oh no.
its not whining.
i dislike the "face" of the iPhone compared to its predecessor, but i would much rather have the "ugliness" and those new features then no new features and the old design back.

It think it adds a dash of proportionality. It's more pleasing to my eye than the last one. :)

The plastic back could also help to improve signal quality as well.

Yes, it should. Not that I ever had any issues at all with the original. Comparable to some of my best RF benchmark phones. An independent test lab supposedly tested the antenna capabilities of the old iPhone and it passed with flying colours.

Fair enough. Ultimately, the viewing area is the same and when the phone is to you're ear or you're viewing in a dim room that 0.05mm will be a wash.

It is hardly noticeable to be honest!
