Hi!

My friend bought a box version of iWork and sent the serial number to me. As you know, you can download the demo version of iWork from Apple's site. In the demo you have an option to register your iWork. Will it be legal if I'll use the serial number from my friend's box version which I won't have physically with me?
(P.S. My friend didn't use his iWork)

Cheers, Paul

My "not a lawyer" reply: If he's not using it then that should be fine, as one purchased copy is being used on one computer. However, to be on the safe side, you should probably get the physical box from him.

The biggest issue I see here is that you can't really prove that it's legitimate. That's why I suggest getting the box.

That's gonna be hard cuz she lives far away from me. 🙁

It's fine, and you will NEVER get into trouble for software piracy. People don't get into trouble for blatantly stealing, and you actually have a transferred license, so it should be fine.
