Hi,

Should I sell my iPhone before I go and live in India ??

I have a chance to to live in India as early as September 2008.

I wonder, if I'll be able to use my iphone there. If not, I'll
sell it before departing to go there.

Thank you for your advice.

Kind regards,

igmolinav.

if you unlock it before you go, you could use it with Hutch, they have a pretty good network. I'm pretty sure they're part of T-mobile. Remember that If you go PAYG there, you can only top up in the state your Sim was purchased in.

My iPhone worked fine in India. Granted, I was using an AT&T plan, but it worked fine.

If you unlock it, you can use it with a local carrier.

You can use it in India if you unlock it (otherwise you'll have to pay international fees which are pretty high). I did hear something about the iPhone coming to India later this year (?) so you could buy one there if it is indeed coming out.

i suggest u to unlock ur iphone and carry it over.. and also the best network over in india is airtel ( bharti ) with which apple would be selling the iphone..

but since a release schedule hasnt been set AND india doesnt have a 3G network yet its better to stick to ur phone.

one more factor .. any electronic device would cost a whole lot more in india.. so keep that in mind too 🙂

ps.. i m doin the opposite of u.. moving to us next month 🙂 and planning to get a iphone there..😀
