Sorry to blow the whistle, but you're not supposed to discuss warez, etc. on the boards. It's one of the rules.

PMing is OK as far as I know, though :D

please 5300, there are perfectly legitimate reasons to be using a filesharing program. The obvious idea is that the man will use it illegally, but if we stop people on this website from talking about filesharing, which has perfectly legitimate purposes, than why not stop talking about guns, and knives? Those too could be associated with illegal situations, although both have perfectly legal reasons for being used.

Amen to that. It's not like we're discussing how to get access to illegal drugs or how to commit violent crime.

I prefer overnet @ www.edonkey2000.com since i get the most results as well as highest DL speeds and because it is terminal based which, makes it small and doesn't use a lot of memory...

Discussing file-sharing in general is allowed. Specifics (how to get program XYZ, where to find serials, etc.) are not.

OK, sorry about that. Well you've got your answers.

What you posted was fine.

Discussing file-sharing apps is kosher (see arn's www.mac-p2p.com site).

Poisoned is by far the best in it's class. Bit Torrent is good but Direct Connect [ http://www.neo-modus.com/ ] is just as good if not better in some respects.

Check it out.

Stop using Limewire. It's crap. It's the only app that I know of on the mac platform that uses spyware.

I agree, LimeWire sucks. Aquisition is a good substitute, but having to pay for a P2P app is idiotic in my opinion.

I was under the impression that there was no spyware on the Mac... how did you know about LimeWire?

and what exactly does this spyware do?

While I heard that the Windows version of LimeWire has spyware, I had no idea that the Mac version does.

It sits in the background un-noticed, watching your network traffic (paying attention to what web sites you've been to specifically) then reports that information to a 3rd party.

Here's a Google definition to spyware :) (http://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+spyware%3F&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)

Hmm... I'm using Limewire for Mac OS 9.2.1. Is there any other programs for p2p that can be used in OS 9 or am I stuck with LW?

Mostly just Ad-Ware...

If you need any Help with Poisoned you can come to me, I've used it for quite a while... Am registered to their forums... one of the top members.

All I used is Poisoned and Bit Torrent.

Tho with Bit Torrent you need Websites... which *would* be illegal to talk here... so use some other method of taking to me.

WHY do I feel like I'm hearing an echo? READ the whole thread, it might answer that question.

With that said, it's not Mac, it's PC and if you're on the PC and like Kazaa, then use KazaaLite++ BUT the best for both are Direct Connect and Bit Torrent.

I've used mlmac for a while. It's a GUI for the mlnet daemon which hooks into kazaa, edonkey, soulseek, and a couple others. mlmac has a few quirks but it seems to get more stable with each release. There's also another GUI for mlnet called G2GUI which looks nice but won't run on my G3/800 ibook (10.2.8) for some reason.

You must be using Windows to ask that question.

I've found it isn't very noticable if I drop it to about 1/3 or less of my available outgoing bandwidth. I wouldn't want it running if I was into online gaming but 5kB keeps it from slowing down my email/surfing/telnet/etc.

i read about mlnet using more than what it's set for, and so i, at first, gave it 1/2, then moved to 1/3, and now it's at 1/4th, and it's still slowing my upstream, and when my mom uses her PC, she can't reach most websites.. but when i use my upload credit, and shut it off for a while, it's fine :)

is there any other software that uses multiple networks like mlnet? seems like folks have a lot of trouble with it.
can't seem to find G2GUI anywhere.

try acqlite. it is basicly acquisition but freeware. give it a few minutes to connect to servers so you have a good search base, but it works great.

I'm not really sure if I should post this or not... but here we go:

1. Download BitTorrent.
2. Go here: Mac Torrents (http://mac.torrentskickass.com)
