UK Media Temple equivalent?

Hey,

I recently joined Media Temple on a DV account and have found the service to be excellent but... the latency is way too high. The control panel is slow and pages load slowly on the sites I have initially setup. In fact its just over 6x slower than my UK hosted site, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Does anyone know of a UK reliable host with support and service as good as MT at a similar price?

1&1 is awful, I recommend you run away. Frankly, Mediatemple isn't so hot either. Yes, I have used both as a customer. 1&1 is a huge company with atrocious support and frequent downtimes due to severe overloading of their servers.

Mediatemple enjoys a cult like following in the web-2.0 new age community, but they're really just a lousy hosting company that charges too much.

Webhostingtalk.com is a great resource to learn about potential hosting companies. I'm sure you'd get some great answers if you asked there.

Mediatemple and 1&1 are both lousy outfits.

Definitely go with WHT for a place to find about hosting companies and offers.

In the UK, stay away from Fasthosts too. EVERYTHING is an extra with them.

I recommend http://fast2host.com/ for the UK, its cheep and there servers run my site very fast compared to Fasthosts and Streamline of before.

Don't know nuthin' about Media Temple, but I find Rochen (www.rochenhost.com) to be pretty good.

I use http://cheapvps.co.uk it is cheap but you have to manage it all your self. I have very little server experience and so far so good!

Thanks for all you responses. After searching all over I am still no further closer to finding a reliable and affordable host. I can't believe there's nothing out there which ticks the same boxes as (mt) and comes with some decent reputation. Although I have come across a few bad reports from ex-(mt) customers. That's the same with any service though!

There's a lot of hosting companies out there with shoddy sites which don't look professional or trustworthy which I'm steering clear of. The majority of companies are based in the US too, which I'm not keen on.

I seriously think there's a gap in the market here...
