Painting the MBA

Has anyone done it? or anyone have any actual pictures of a colourwarepc job? I'm thinking of spraying mine either matte black or gloss black. I think the matte (flat like the black macbook) might look a bit weird and not look as nice as a glossy job.

Either way has anyone done this!? Or am i going to be the first to paint my MBA black?

Well i'm getting my car painted in a few weeks, and i've had another car painted not that long ago, so i'll just as the painter how to go about this and if he thinks it will turn out any good! If he thinks he will be able to make it look nicer than me, then i'll hand the job over to him but i'll just mask any bits that i don't want painted.

Either way i love custom stuff or something that no one around me has! so i'll try and do it...

and yeah i'll definitely photo document everything!

The thing about painting over it, though, is the fact that paint has a tendency to peel away after prolonged use. May even be more prone to scratches that will leave the aluminum peeking through - which may look unsightly in the long run.

You would be better off covering it in vinyl. Spek to your local signwritter...the type that does graphics on cars. Then you can remove it easily.

If you could strip down the MBA to it's bare aluminum case you could have it either anodized of powdercoated, both of which are much more durable than paint.

I can't really see powdercoat sticking too well. I think whatever you do, step one is getting the MBA to a "case only" state, and step 2 is somehow (mechanically or chemically) roughing up the surface so whatever treatment you use will have a CHANCE of sticking.

Yea, anodizing isn't really an option as you'd have to remove the case from the components.
