Possible to use only One slot instead of Two?

i have a 1gb slot running in my imac and the other one being empty..

is that ok?
cuase ive been getting random freezes and shutdowns...
my computer crashed at least 30 times today

everything from gray screens, complete freeze, random shutdown.. sometimes wont even boot!!
 
whatever problems you are having, its not because you have an empty ram slot. That's how apple ships it. If it was a problem that caused freezing, etc, it would be idiotic for them to ship it like that. bad ram couldbe a problem, or it could be some other hardware issue, or a software problem, but having an empty ram slot is fine.
