O2 pay-as-you-go tariff - not what you would think

If you look at the O2 iPhone 3G Business tariffs, it has the pay-as-you go tariff.

The phone price is OK. For the 8G it is £84.25 + sales tax ($200) or for the 16G it is £135.32 + sales tax ($300).

However, the catch is that there is a 24 month min contract, with a monthly charge of £11.91 + sales tax ($28).

Sales tax, also call VAT is 17.5% in the UK. By law, consumer prices have to be quoted including tax but business prices are often quoted without tax.

I may be wrong, but it looks like that business "PAYG" is effectively a £27 contract (to get the iphone bolt on and the monthly charge) with no inclusive minutes or texts. First, this will only be available to businesses, and secondly, you might as well go for the consumer £30 one (or the £35).

yes, that looks like a 24 or 36 month CONTRACT where you can opt to pay as you use (PAYU) rather than have a call allowance.

errr thats a PAYU tariff not a PAYG tariff, im quite sure they are completly different.
