Put DVDs onto IPhone

I do not have an original IPhone but I am getting 3G on the 11th, so I have not had the ability to even attempt this yet. Is there a way to rip a DVD onto your computer and transfer it onto the IPhone? I am just curious to find out before I get the phone. It is definitely not a reason to get, or not to get, the phone, but it would be nice to know if it is possible so I can determine if I want to get the 8gb or 16gb.

welcome to macrumors. we - well, i would, at the very least - would greatly appreciate it if you would search before posting. searching with the term "dvd" in this forum alone brings up over 50 threads where people have discussed this very topic, and you will find good recommendations and tips in them...
