I use VMWare Fusion to run Windows XP for software development purposes at work. Sometimes I need to run a 2nd VM to simulate a "local" and "remote" setup for some of the enterprise applications that I write... so I have Mac OS X with 2 VMWare virtual machines running at the same time, which leads to a pretty slow MacBook Pro! The response time is truly abysmal... and I have 4GB of RAM in the MBP! The performance problem seems to stem from HDD activity... the more of it, the slower the machine runs because it only has a 5400RPM HDD.
I was thinking of running WinXP in Boot Camp and then running VMWare Workstation on that... that way I get the best possible response time from the VMs.
Has anyone else tried this and what results did you receive?
TIA,
Steven
