Seriously though, why not just see if you can find another MBP with a broken screen or something and combine them, or search eBay/Craigslist for a cheap logic board?
There are even sites out there that charge $600-700 or so to replace the board (including round trip delivery), isn't that worth it to get the MBP working again?

At the Store near me, they always make you put the computer on the desk before doing any sort of work on it. You drop it in store... means they need to call a janitor to clean the floor. That's it.

perhaps I could have been more clear in my initial post, something wrong with the logicboard/gpu, took it to apple, $1500AU repair + service time. Yes, it runs XP, but at the speed I'd expect from my 233mhz pentium 2, primarily because I don't think XP uses the GPU to handle any of it's core processes like OSX does.

Plus, I was about to upgrade to a mac pro anyway.

I'm liking the suggestions, keep em coming. Boat anchor has it at the moment. Next thing i need to do is buy a boat...

Yea you should try to get it fixed, buy a used logic.board on ebay or ifixit, powerbookmedic.com and do it yourself and sell it in the end.

1) you can take a poo on it and close the lid to squeeze the poo and open the lid snap a pic of it and ebay it for $2379 buy it now labeled poo poo plattered mbp. Theres bound to be a sick wealthy old man sitting on his high chair that will hit buy it now.

2) Ask a friend to video tape you with another friend holding a dell and knocking down your mbp which of course breaking it and make it realistic and upload it on your blog and ask the fellow apple zealots for a donation to help you get your precious mbp fixed!!
