Hi all,

My company designs clothing ranges and has been using a package called Canvas X from ACDSee systems which was installed alongside a custom database to keep track of our product ranges and artwork etc.

This package has an extremely usefull 'Shared Layers' function.

What this allows us to do is share our "Outline" layers so any changes made to it carry through the entire document. We also share other layers with each other to create a final document which is entwined so any changes carry through the complete document.

In the below picture you can see that on layer 'FRONT & BACK COLOUR1' the sub-layer entitled 'Front Outline' is shared with layer 'FRONT COL 1'

The problem is that our designers like to use Illustrator to design in as it is a more robust and feature packed application so they have to transfer the Illustrator artwork over to Canvas X to make use of the 'Shared Layers' function

Our company is looking for a way to achieve this sharing of layers in Illustrator CS3 but i cannot find any way of doing this. Another forum suggested data-driven graphics but these dont seem to meet the criteria

Can one of you super users suggest any way to achieve this?

Thankyou very much
