Ok, I'm figuring out how to start a thread. Sorry guys....
So, I bought a Canon HF100 HD camcorder and when I try to download it into my macbook pro, it shuts down upon download. Thumbnails pop up, but the program shuts down. I am running it through a USB, should I be using a firewire? Any suggestions?
Thank you....

I don't know if the problem is because you're using USB but I would certainly recommend FireWire. FireWire is more suited for the continuous data stream that video requires.

just to throw it out there, there are many threads here on macrumors on connecting the canon hf10/100 to the mac with imovie and FCE.

^i dont think this camera has firewire, correct me if i'm wrong^

Did you initialize the disk? what program are you using to import the videos?

Thanks for the input. I am using imovie, since it's on my computer and I'm a novice. I went to the mac store to get some help and they were even stumped.
Thumbnails come up in imovie then it all drops out when i hit download.
