Take this with a grain of sal (http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/340/C15555/)t, but it looks like Rogers might be offering three data plans for the iPhone 3G:

$30 for 300meg
$60 for 1gig
$100 for 6 gig

Now, I highly doubt that this is even remotely accurate, but it is interesting. Let's say Rogers/Fido does go with something similar to this (please don't let this become a thread bitching about how awful data rates in Canada are, how Rogers would never do something like this, we've all heard it 1000 times before). I want to get my money's worth, but not pay too much.

Focus: How much data do you use every month, and how much non-wifi surfing do you do?

1 GB.

Maybe 6 GB.

YouTube movies are at most 30 MB (or was it 35?) on Wi-Fi. Unless you're watching the 10 minute long ones. That means you watch 10 YouTube movies, you're done for the month (and with 3G...the YouTube movies would probably be the Wi-Fi quality one).

Heck if you watch YouTube a lot, then 1 GB isn't enough.

Although if this (http://www.ehmac.ca/ipod-itunes-iphone-apple-tv/65885-rogers-iphone-information-activation-data-plans-sign-up-process-etc.html#post688463) is true, then my question is moot.

That's pretty much the norm here. We have the worst/most expensive cell plans in the world, thanks to our government allowing one company to have a monopoly.
