Has anybody seen lines on your monitor like these?

I just downloaded Firefox 3 and some Apple updates, but I don't think they caused it. The lines disappear when I restart my Mac and I have a feeling it might be a memory thing.

I've seen this sort of thing with bad video cards. Fine when you start up, but as you use them and they get hot they start putting garbage on the screen.

Might as well test the memory. Rember has worked well for me, even finding errors that Apple Hardware Test missed.

If you use connect via VGA, you might check for bent pins.

Also try booting to the Install DVD which came with your Mac. If the garbage happens you can at least eliminate software as the culprit.

All that said, I'd make the graphics card your chief suspect.
