I don't know if anyone's linked to this article yet. Mods can delete this or do whatever they like with it, but I found it interesting.

And cue all the new "I dropped my iPhone down the toilet" threads…
I am sure the new parental controls will help assuage the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection.

Fair enough topic. Let's just remember that people of all ages read these threads and that any detailed discussions or links on how to get and use porn on your iPhone will not be viewed favourably.

Lack of Flash may be a problem here. :D

This is hilarious. I hadn't considered how useful a device the iPhone could be for porn. I guess it makes sense. iPhone porn video sites would need to have the appropriate type of video files (quicktime?), though -- as I haven't had much luck playing videos on my iPhone other than YouTube, Apple's site, and a few select other places.

Adult content drives most new technologies.
VHS, DVD, the Internet... all had a huge boost from it.
I once worked with a nice gentleman who made millions from writing video conversion tools for the adult industry. He also sold them to the general public, but those tools would not have existed without the adult buyers paying all the initial cost of development.
1-900 video calls will be next.

Mobile Porn?
"It's by far the porn-friendliest phone," says Devan Cypher, representative for San Francisco-based Sin City Entertainment.

I think that is a stupid article.
First off, they said all the same stuff when the first video iPod came out...
Secondly, the first part of the article says this:
"Steve Jobs' company is keeping a civil, if embarrassed, silence on one of the potentially most lucrative and controversial uses of its handheld jewel: porn."
Then later in the article it says this:
"Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Bowcock says the company doesn't condone iPhone porn distribution and will ban adult content from official applications, just as it has restricted adult content in the podcast section of the Apple store."
That doesn't sound like Apple is being "silent" about anything to me.

Media hyping porn, say it isn't so.

This is a terrible article. It doesn't even give any links to these new sites!;)

The article is senseless. You could watch porn a bunch of phones, not just the iphone.

People, there's porn out there! Someone turn off the Internet! :)
Jobs made that announcement about certain content not being allowed at the App Store the day it was revealed. So Apple is doing its part. There's not much more that a company can do without literally blocking the Internet.
I do wonder if any of the Euros out there think of us as prudes for worrying more about porn sites being available than, say, al-Qaida discussion boards. Not to get all political but there's much worse stuff on the 'Net than porn.

All of the sites I prefer use flash. Will 2.0 support it?

For some reason that reminds me of that old Simpsons episode where Homer keeps using the phrase "family jewels"...

Because that's what people want. To watch their *entertainment* on the in public or on their commute to work.

The article is senseless. You could watch porn a bunch of phones, not just the iphone.
You could browse the Internet on phones before the iPhone aswell. The point of the article is that the iPhone is the first phone which normal people will be using for porn browsing. I imagine porn on my N95 would suck.

An unfortunate turn of phrase, perhaps. :)

C'mon people! Porn is more than just pictures and videos. To be a truly "porn-centric" device, the iPhone would need:
- an eBook reader, capable of one-handed use.
- A video-capable camera
- Perhaps MMS, although email will probably suffice.
Why did Steve Jobs leave out these important, porn-enhancing features? :D
