I have to send in my MBA for repair and just got my empty box. After reading through the instructions I'm not too sure what it means by Security Software De-Authorization. This is what it reads in the instruction:

Security Software De-authorization
You must disable all security software installed on your product when given to Apple for service. Products received with systems that are password-protected will either be returned un-repaired, or the repair will be delayed. If you did not provide the necessary passwords when the repair was set up, or if you need assistance disabling the security software, contact Apple at the number below.

Does this pertain to the password required before installing anything? Or something different?

If you have FileVault enabled, using a firmware password, or any software designed to protect your system, apps, or files from prying eyes without having the appropriate credentials, you need to turn it all off so they can get anywhere on your system they need to.
