probably best to go to carphone warehouse as your contract is actually with them and not directly o2

No, the OP's contract is directly with O2, and for that reason he/she will be absolutely fine to upgrade via O2 come July 11th.
That is what i thought, this is my first contract as I have always been too cheap to get one so this will be my first upgrade also.
As i understand it O2 are directly responsible for upgrading any contract phone, but i thought i would just clarify seeing as the iPhone is quite unique when it comes to terms and conditions and the like!
