Hi all,

I'm new here.. I've always visited this site but never actually posted anything, so I thought it was about time to join and see what's up at Mac Rumors.

Anyways, my question to those of you who sold your iPhones... How much did you sell it for and what condition was it in, and when did you (or will you)?

I'm trying to get a feel for the prices.

I'm pretty sure it's in the right forum, but if not, sorry!

I sold my 16gb for $504, and 3 8gb for $305 (dented back), $406 (year old) and $455 (couple weeks old).

I sold the 8gb for my friends. I bough myself an 8 gb for $300 last week since I was tired of using a nokia. I thought I could go til July 11 but I couldnt.

I sold my dented and scratched 12 month old 4GB iPhone for $100, a sidekick slide with sim card and a RAZR. The sidekick is pretty new and there are only 2 scratches and the razr is fine.

3-month old 16 GB with a small dent on corner for $519 + shipping. Sold about June 5th.

And, btw, I'm looking for a group for recovering iPhone addicts. I miss my phone terribly! :-(

Will any of you people who sold your iPhone be eligible to get the new iPhone for $200? I'm thinking about selling mine and don't want to have any surprises. I assume if you have the iPhone plan then you're already eligible, but that would suck if you had to bring your iPhone with you for proof. I highly doubt that though, but just to be on the safe side?

I bought a brand new iPhone in January of this year. Sold it this May on eBay for $375. It was a little nicked/dented up due to a few drops.

I see all these people saying they sold their iPhones on Ebay for $400-450 etc.

Are you guys saying you sold it for $400 after all the ebay/paypal costs are accounted for. I sold my iPhone on craigslist (drove 5 miles to Best Buy) to sell the iPhone for $350(8GB).

Soif you really sold it on ebay for 400, than your net costs are really about 350-360? I think ebay costs are like almost 9% for the first $25 and like another 2.5% for the remaining balance and than you add in the paypal transaction costs so the fees really start to add up and cut into the profit.

I'm waiting to see how improved the audio quality is..

If it is, as claimed, 'drastically improved', then I'll hold out till July.

Otherwise I'll get a 2G offof eBay..

I sold my 16gb in really good conidition boxed, receipt etc last week (after the 3g was announced)

Advertised on Ebay so paid listing fees, but someone local showed interest so I ended the auction early and got £300UKP ($600) for it....chuffed...what I paid for it 6 months ago.

Im using my wifes 8gb now and in two minds whether to sell it or hang on to it. Its standing me £200 at the moment, but really dont wont to be without it as I love and use it all the time.

Sucks for you. They're not going to be selling it unsubsidized, I'll tell you that right now. You HAVE to buy the data plan if you're getting it at AT&T, and getting a data plan = getting a new contract.

Just sold my 8gb 6-month old iPhone for $395 ($365 after fees and shipping costs). Never had it in a case, had a few scuffs on the back, none on screen.

Listing here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&item=170230872354).

Sold it to a guy in NY, but had quite a few offers from people around the world.

When you sell the iPhone do you need to include the orignal sim if it's unlocked? I am in the processes of selling mine and I dont know if I need to include it to be sold on ebay. Please help!

I know that it wasn't I would sold these phones, but it still encompasses the population...

Friend to friend - $210 (including case)
Friend to friend - $100 (for waiting 8.5 hours in line for him to get iPhone 3G)
Stranger to friend - $180 (8G w/ dents & scratches)
Person behind me in line - $400
Person in front of me in line - [Planned on selling it for $200 until he heard the person behind me]

People in my fraternity were also selling to brothers for $100 at one point...I guess the people I know/have met have been looking to make an extreme profit as of yet, lol.

I got $380 for my 10-month-old 8GB iPhone on eBay this past Tuesday. Not a bad deal, as I used my $100 Apple Store Credit towards the purchase of my new 16GB Black iPhone 3G.

$380 (Old iPhone) - $299 (New iPhone 3G) + $100 (Apple Store Credit) = $181 total profit

Sold my 16GB for $280 to a friend. Way to low but I wanted him to have a 16GB since he wasn't able to find one. He bid on one on Ebay and the bid went over $600 so he got a great deal on mine. I am now selling a 8Gb for the same price, also maybe too low but I don't care.

I've sold two iPhones previously... back when the 16 GB model came out, I sold my launch-day 8 GB phone for $300 via Craigslist. And then just this past week, I sold my 16 GB iPhone for $300 to someone here on MR.

-$600 (old iPhone)=$419 spent on iPhone
still not bad though

Nope, only paid $399 for the original iPhone back in September 2007: I bought the 4GB model one week before the price drop, and it had several dead pixels, so I returned it just after the new prices took effect. Since I had originally paid $499 for the 4GB phone, and now that the 8GB was only $399, the guy gave me $100 cash along with a new 8GB iPhone. Luckily, I kept the serial number of my old 4GB phone, so when Apple launched the $100 Credit program online, I figured I would give it a try and I got lucky -- It accepted my old phone's serial number and gave me a $100 store credit which I just used last week for the 3G.

So if you really want to go that far back, I've spent a total of $218 on iPhone hardware dating back to last September. For two amazing phones, definitely not a bad deal.

Sold our two, 8gb (year-old) iphones on Craigslist for $300 each.
Bought 2 new 16gb iPhones for $299+tax each

All in all, spent only $34 to "upgrade" to the new iPhones :D

New iPhones = NEW batteries
3G
GPS
8gb MORE space

:D
