So if I buy a copy of vista (which should i buy 32 or 64 bit) do i just pop it in the drive and install it via boot camp in the finder or do i need to boot from disc.

How dose it work from then on.

basically explain it to me. this is the only part of OS X.5 i dont get i mean no one can give me a clear answer even the people on the chat on apple web site are like "u can run windows if u need to" and i say "how" and they say "boot camp" and i say "but how does that work" and that say "u can run both windows and OS X"

thanks

why don't you click on bootcamp and follow the onscreen instructions?

no i dont read manuals i just do stuff i sorta have that skill

obviously you don't have that skill since you are asking questions that could have been answered in five minutes if you'd read the freaking manual. I don't think there are many here who will reward your laziness with the information you request.

I take it you guys came to an agreement lol!

There is a good manual on the apple site under the support section i think, or it might be in the section with the updates for bootcamp under the downloads section.

Really really easy if you ask me... just remember to print the manual!

Let us know how you get on.

If you need a hand give me a shout. Ill talk you through it.

The point here is that no matter how natively adept you think you are at "just picking up things," it's apparent by your questions that you haven't read the hundreds of threads on this forum about folks that that have borked not only the Windows install, but the Mac partition as well, simply because they didn't read the Setup Guide.

Do yourself a favor and print & read it before starting. If you have any questions about a particular step, ask. Just please don't go in blindly and then seek solace here. Nothing to be gained from not avoiding others' mistakes. :)

Not much to point out here...
He says he has a skill yet he definitely lacks it as he ask on forums. Just a regular user that likes to complicate his life and thinks more bout himself than he should. :D

Truth is it's very easy to install Win under bootcamp. All you have to remember is to install all the drivers from OS X DVD after Win is set up.

unless your going to be using vista strictly for gaming i would very highly reccomend 32-bit.....many applications do not run at all in 64-bit windows.

...well actually the big problem with vista64 for iMacs anyway is applebootcamp doesnt support with drivers etc etc so its headache.....hopefully new bootcamp support will come 1 day

i think right now today there is small difference 64 or 32 for gaming......but it will change slowly

I say give the guy a break. I'm a somewhat experienced computer user but when it comes to mac, I'm completely clueless.

Yeah he can read the manual, but the manual can't say what the experience of installing vista on the iMac is like. That's where you guys come in.

You'll be fine with 32-bit Vista. I tried both 32-bit and 64-bit Vista Home Premium on my iMac via Boot Camp, however 64-bit Vista is not officially supported on the iMac.
