Logic Board replacement

My MBP is going to get its logic board replaced while under warranty. The current model is a 2 GHz intel bought in august 2006 (or thereabouts). Currently the specs say that the machine can only support 2 GB RAM.

Questions:

1. Will the logic board be swapped out for an identical one, or do you think it will be upgraded (speed bump)?

2. If it is upgraded, will I be able to put 4 GB of RAM into the slots, or is RAM capacity determined by something else that doesn't change with a logic board replacement?

I highly doubt it will be upgraded. Apple has several parts for all machines around. If not, how would they be able to repair some of the PPC machines. However, if for some odd reason they were to do it, I would think that you would be able to put 4 gigs of ram in there. Sadly, I wouldn't count on that happening.

expect what you have to be replaced with what you have.

hope for a newer board. Thats all you can do at this point.

Chances are your getting what you have.

there are plenty of the same type of boards for your computer. They just remanufacture the faulty ones they receive.
